Long range and rapid refuelling: Simulations predict a range of up to 280 miles on UK bus routes using 350 bar hydrogen. This surpasses the typical daily distance of London buses (100-200 miles) and offers refuelling times similar to diesel or petrol alternatives (around 8 minutes). Bramble Energy, with its partners, will now move into the next phase of HEIDI, manufacturing key components, including the fuel cell stack, fuel cell system, and hydrogen storage. https://lnkd.in/eXXReagy

The old arguments that excess power generated by wind and solar is wasted are no longer applicable. Imagine a strategy that involves storage, flattening out peaks and helping respond to demand. Then imagine it on micro/small grids around the UK serving smaller communities in particular. Reliable, genuinely sustainable energy anyone?

Good news! The UK’s first low carbon (blue) hydrogen plant, EET Hydrogen’s HyNet HPP1, powered by JM’s LCH™ technology, has signed a statement of principles with the Department for Energy, Sustainability and Net Zero. 🏭 Using JM’s world-leading LCH technology, HyNet will deliver CCS-enabled (blue) hydrogen at scale and high efficiency - with a very high carbon capture rate. In fact, because of JM’s technology, more than 97% of the carbon used in the process will be captured and stored. When operational, the facility will be the country’s first low carbon (blue) hydrogen production facility, producing 80kt of hydrogen per year. It will also capture 600,000 tonnes of CO2 – the equivalent of taking over 250,000 petrol or diesel powered cars off the road. This will make a significant step towards the UK Government’s aim of delivering 10GW of low carbon hydrogen by 2030, helping to decarbonise local heavy industries and, eventually, provide power and energy to customers in the North West of England.🌎 Learn more about HyNet: https://bit.ly/3UAaDwh #lowcarbonhydrogen #netzero #carboncapture

……..the new sLH2 technology lowers the required investment for a hydrogen refueling station by a factor of two to three, and operational costs are five to six times lower. Today, liquid hydrogen can be supplied reliably throughout Europe. Compared to regular liquid hydrogen (LH2) refueling technology, the new process uses a new innovative sLH2 pump to increase slightly the pressure of the liquid hydrogen. With this method, the hydrogen becomes subcooled liquid hydrogen (sLH2). Hydrogen in this state facilitates a very robust fueling process that also keeps energy losses during refueling to a minimum.

This is a “bogus solution”, said Zipse, adding that "a [categorical] ban on combustion engines in 2035 is the wrong approach". 🤔 E-fuel production demands a huge amount of energy and producing all of today’s industrial hydrogen output from electricity would create an electricity demand of 3600TWh. This is almost 1000TWh more than the EU’s entire energy production in 2022, of which just 39.4% came from renewables. Why not use that energy directly to power electric cars instead? 📖 Source https://lnkd.in/giNmAqhr #IONAS #CleanMobility #eMobility #ElectricCars #FutureMobility #Batteries #Automotive #ElectricVehicles #AutonomousVehicles #EV #Lithium #Innovation #Sustainability #Recycling #Future #Energy #Efficiency #Technology #AVEVAI #TomTsogt 🔔👍

Great to see this huge step forward in bringing fossil-free steel to market through this collaboration between SSAB and Hy Stor Energy. Steelmaking is one of the biggest GHG emitters worldwide, and green hydrogen is promising both as a heat source and as a reducing gas, removing two of the biggest sources of emissions in the steelmaking process.
Today is a huge milestone! We're thrilled to learn that Hy Stor Energy partner SSAB has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to enter negotiation for federal funding to develop the world's first commercial-scale facility using HYBRIT®, fossil-free Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) technology and fueled by 100% #cleanhydrogen. Here is the latest news in hydrogen from the HEA: UK-based hydrogen bus consortium HEIDI has reached a significant milestone, with the design phase of the project now complete. Featuring partners Bramble Energy Limited, Equipmake, Aeristech, and University of Bath, HEIDI (Hydrogen Electric Integrated Drivetrain Initiative) is developing a ‘first-of-its-kind’ hydrogen-powered double decker bus. https://lnkd.in/eGPXw_dm Plans to build a £250m green hydrogen production facility in Hull have been approved - paving the way for local heavy industry to use the cleaner fuel. US-backed British energy start-up Meld Energy will now develop the 100-megawatt plant at the Saltend Chemicals Park - a move it says will create the capacity to meet up to 30% of the park's existing hydrogen demand. https://lnkd.in/e-YYeqPS Urgent action is needed in order for the UK to meet the government’s target to increase hydrogen production, according to a new Workforce Foresighting Hub report. The new report was carried out to identify future skills demands to be addressed to meet the challenge of increasing hydrogen production. https://lnkd.in/e7gnpMdN #HrdrogenNews #NetZero #GreenHydrogen #HydrogenProduction #HydrogenTech
