The Oxcart A-12 is the lesser known predecessor to the Blackbird SR-71. Still one of the greatest planes ever made but is in some ways outshined by the SR-71. The A-12 reached speeds of approximately Mach 3.2, and it could operate at altitudes of around 90,000 feet. First flight was in 1962 and at the time was the fastest and highest fixed wing aircraft in the world. #aerospace #aviation
