I didn't post this to talk about the politics of SNL's views or anything like that. I bring this article up because of something I brought up earlier. SNL and others are correct; it seems that women's basketball is creating more stars in college than men. Now, it is interesting, I would ask who could name me the past 10 first picks in the WNBA draft? I couldn't tell you. I might know one: Sabrina Ionescu. I think there was also Della Donne back a few years ago. I could be wrong on her spelling. But, the point is Caitlin Clark will be a name people can say, "I know one superstar in the WNBA!" (My personal opinion is that Candace Parker will always be the better player than Caitlin Clark, but I digress.) It is really college women's basketball that people care about more than the WNBA. We will see if this changes any over the next few years. The larger point though is this: if I were the NBA, I would be taking notice. People desire for college sports to be great. This whole developmental league takes away men's college basketball's ability to create stars. Those that go into the developmental league--who knows who did? Now that the college game has NIL, I think the NBA should step back, dismantle the D and G Leagues, and require the collegiate athletes to wait until after at least two years of playing (this would not include a redshirt year). It would be a win-win for both sides.

And there are numbers that help define the Prime Effect on college football: The previously irrelevant Buffs had the most-watched game of the season through the first 11 weeks, as 10.03 million viewers tuned in for the Sept. 23 loss to Oregon. In fact, Colorado has had five of the 13 most-watched games; Alabama had three of the top 13 to that point, while Ohio State, Texas, Penn State and LSU each had two."  Exciting News for Football Fan      The Dream Bowl, a game founded with the aim of providing equal opportunities for college football players to showcase their skills and pursue their dreams of playing at the professional level, has gained immense popularity. Led by sports and event planning expert Neil Malvone, this three-day event has been instrumental in giving talented Division III players, and even some lesser-known Division I and Division II players, a chance to shine. It's all about providing a platform for every player, regardless of where they played college ball.     Not only does The Dream Bowl offer exposure to scouts, executives, and coaches, but it also aims to educate players on the various paths they can take to achieve their dreams. While the NFL is the ultimate goal for many, there are other opportunities in the CFL, XFL, UFL, and ELF that players may need to explore. Fox Draws More Women’s CBB Viewers Than Men For the first time, Fox Sports’ TV audience for women’s college basketball on the broadcast network was bigger than men’s college basketball this season. Driven by multiple telecasts featuring Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, womens’ college hoops games averaged 981,000 viewers on Fox, versus 946,000 for the men. Overall, women’s college basketball viewers rose 48% on Fox this season, and 60% across national TV networks. “It’s notable that the growth in women’s CBB viewing hasn’t come at the expense of the men’s game,” Fox’s Mike Mulvihill tweeted Tuesday. “Men’s CBB viewing across all networks—which is an average of over 1,000 games—is up a little over last year and 2021-2022. The surge in interest in women’s CBB is all additive.” And did we mention that CBS’s telecast of Clark and Iowa’s comeback overtime win over Nebraska in the Big Ten Championship nearly outdrew the blue blood men’s rivalry of Duke-North Carolina?
