The tragic loss of Wilson Price in Wellington is a somber reminder of the inherent risks faced by linemen and other workers in the electric power industry. Safety is always the top priority, and incidents like this highlight the importance of rigorous training for newer, less experienced workers and adherence to safety regulations and policies. OSHA’s guidelines for overhead line work provide essential safety standards that can help prevent accidents like these. https://lnkd.in/gEKNtX6z
🔴City of Wellington Mourns Apprentice Lineman🟡 The City of Wellington, Kansas, has identified Wilson Price, a 20-year-old apprentice lineman, as the worker who tragically lost his life in an accident at the city’s power plant substation. Price, who had been part of the Electric Distribution Department since January 2024, was performing maintenance when he came into contact with energized equipment. Journeyman Lineman at IBEW | Co-Founder of Blueprint: Blue Collar Edu, an elearning platform dedicated to expose, teach & educate blue collar career opportunities & things that will help one getting started!
Getting into a blue collar skilled trade... As an apprentice, laborer, groundman... There a few important things to skills/traits to develop that will help you through out your entire career. One of these things is learning to take ownership/accountability for your mistakes and screw ups. We all make mistakes...but the important thing to do is to own up to those mistakes. Don't point fingers, don't act stupid... If you know you screwed up & it was your fault, own up to it! One of the most important things I learned very early on in my lineman apprenticeship, Watch & learn more about this here 👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/gYVWeDNh #bluecollar #education _____________________ I’m Austin, journeyman lineman & owner/operator of Blueprint. 10 things that require ZERO talent... Thing number 8: 8. Being Teachable. Be able to learn, study, retain information... Don't have "tunnel vision". There is always the saying "God gave you two ears & one mouth for a reason." Or... "There's more than one way to skin a cat." Have an open mind to learn and see new perspectives from others point of views! #bluecollar #education #skilledtrades #apprentice __________________ I’m Austin, journeyman lineman & owner/operator of Blueprint. Investor and Partner at MLC ENGINEERING, • Help you invest in MLC ENGINEERING by purchasing shares and becoming a Co-owner, • Designer Graphique
This is not just a message I write, I know how difficult it is today to earn something to eat. And nowadays, life becomes daily costly. That's a great thing that I'm addressing to all hard workers because I have a lot of friends who do hard work to earn something to make themselves happy. I had the opportunity to work with masons; I simply followed them one day to work, and I noticed something while we were working. One of the masons had difficulty pushing a wheelbarrow filled with sand. I want to share with you this morning, if you're a mason or if you do hard work, you have to know that this kind of work exhausts people. The only thing I want to advise you this morning: When you are young 🌱 and you are a mason, do everything possible to leave this job after 10 years. Plan to create a new business on the side; otherwise, you will exhaust all of your energy, and when you become old, your life will be a living hell on earth because: - It will be difficult for you to earn money. - When you earn money at that time, you will spend it all on healthcare. - You will rely on your children before being able to eat something, despite the fact that your children also have a family to feed. This is something that many masons (and not only masons, all people who do hard work) don't do, except those who are ready to take a risk. join me in this opportunity to become a co-owner of MLC ENGINEERING company. DM me if you need more information.

Helping Trades to stop the chase for project materials. Get what you want, when you want, where you want it.
Missing the Trades in Life's Game I played the game of life with my kids. 🎲 We were given two choices: College or a Career Path. Here were my career options, or I could spend 100k on college: Race car driver Chef Inventor Police Officer Singer Athlete Actor Where are the trade career options? Plumber Electrician Welder Carpenter and more... It was never an option! In the instructions, in bold, it stated: "If you choose college, you'll be more likely to get a better-paying job" 😱 How do we expect to get kids interested in the trades if our schools, guidance counselors, teachers, and board games tell us that college is the better option? College may be the right path for some, but it's not for everyone. Let's work together to provide the correct information to kids so they can make the best decision for themselves. #skilledtrades #jointhetrades #bluecollar #STAC --------------------- ↗ Hey, I'm Andrew. THE QUESTIONS THEY ASK! From Chris Parsons, Founder, Landworks (a Corbett Network member): Did you find a new cook to work with your guys? One of our graduates (from 2017), a trained chef, saw the advert, applied, and fitted in very well. How’s that young man training in horticulture getting on? Sam is becoming an expert on soils, working hard, and enthusing us all with his motivation. What is going to happen to LandWorks with Dartington Hall Trust seemingly in a financial mess? I’m not sure, but we have a secure 25-year lease. Oh, my goodness, Chris, will it ever stop raining? Yes. What will happen to LandWorks when you retire? I will be around for a long while yet, but when I do decide to go, we have a clear plan. What’s the one thing at LandWorks that really worries you? Tricky one. There is so much that is not working within the criminal justice system. More recently, I am increasingly concerned about how isolated people are becoming. Perhaps more worryingly encouraged to become solitary... hybrid working away from people, social media, less contact and less just talking to someone. I worry that this increased isolation feeds intolerance of other people. I know it’s been a tough year, but what keeps you going? That’s easy; it’s the people who have been here. Nearly everyone stays in touch, and hearing about these amazing journeys away from being judged as criminals is truly inspiring. Learn more www.landworks.org.uk
