🎓 As the first semester of my M.S.c in Digital Marketing at Maynooth University ends, I’m reflecting on these intense but incredible past few months. I remembered one particular moment that impacted me and changed my last academic journey: my first Digital Marketing Communications class. In the first class, we introduced ourselves and our backgrounds. It was a bit nerve-wracking for me as some of my colleagues had extensive experience in marketing through their undergraduate degrees in marketing or business. Our lecturer, Dr. Gillian Moran, shared some insightful thoughts that resonated with me. She emphasised that not having a marketing work experience at the master’s level is not a bad thing. She highlighted the value of diverse experiences and how they can contribute to becoming a well-rounded marketer. 🌟 I’ve had the privilege of interning as a journalist at BANTUMEN after earning my undergraduate degree in journalism at Escola Superior de Comunicação Social and working as a front-desk receptionist at ResidHotel Galerie Tatry. While these roles may seem unrelated to marketing at first glance, they have provided me with valuable skills and perspectives to make me a stronger marketer in the long run. ✨ My experience as a journalist honed my investigative research, writing, and storytelling skills. Additionally, my time as a receptionist taught me the importance of providing exceptional customer experiences and the value of effective communication. I’m confident that my unique journey will bring a fresh perspective to the marketing field. Recently I have participated in a number of public tenders calling for communication support in China. I observe there has been a trend in public tenders requesting bidders to demonstrate its contributions in sustainability, sort of a de facto mandatory requirement.        At the first glance, an individual communication consultancy (vs a big group), having a non-manufacturing business nature, a very small head count and limited resources, could be difficult to proof its sustainability advocacy. Many tend to think along the line of environment conservation when talking about sustainability.     But in my opinion, my company has a solid case in terms of achieving sustainability excellence because of the following rationale – We conserve the environment for the benefit of the well being of people. In brief, caring of people in fact is the key to sustainability. I will not shy to say that Paradigm do care about people. For instance,          •       We believe in on-going training and mentorship of our employees. We put this into action since our inception in 1998.   •       We offer career opportunities. Whenever there are vacancies in senior and middle level positions, internal promotion takes the priority. Again, this started in day one of our operation.   •       We have been supporting internship program on an on-going basis since 2004. We treat them as full-time executive and provide them with meaningful training and coaching. In fact, some of them have become our colleagues as well as full-fledged PR professionals after graduating from universities.           Of course, I am pleased and feel grateful to those colleagues who are loyal to our company, grow with us and reach new heights again and again. Nevertheless, I also equally feel proud of those colleagues who left us to pursue other opportunities in the industry and make a name for themselves. Many of my former colleagues told me afterwards that their time with Paradigm made them become competent and consummate PR professionals. Some even told me that HR managers or potential supervisors immediately gave them a nod of approval in job interviews when they knew that they are from Paradigm!            

1 thing I love about being an Admin is the; physical opportunity to visit the project location. Last week, Fortune Gabriel (Your Job Prep Guru🧡) and I went to Fortune Private School, and we were impressed by the student's enthusiasm for launching our outreach with scholarships, an essay contest, and digital education. I switched from an admin to a content creator, videographer, etc. It was a fantastic moment with staff and students. I see a banner portrait of when Fortune Gabriel (Your Job Prep Guru🧡) won the one-day principal award. We are here to create opportunities for students to reach their goals. I can’t wait to get excited about this first project with Inkers Hub. Each university in the Gulf region that publishes +500 papers annually shall consider hiring a full time Research Communication Strategist. The ROI includes a higher reputation, more regional and global media mentions for the institution's research and researchers, increased citation, securing partnerships and sometimes funding, and increased research Altmetrics.
