The only thing that should be kept in the closet is clothes As we celebrate 28th June is #InternationalPrideDay, we want to strengthen the essence of our culture with a promise: “At IKEA, we work so that there are no closets to come out of.” Our vision for a better everyday life is rooted in equality. We’re happy to share that 95% of our team members feel IKEA champions diversity and inclusion. 90% feel they can be 100% themselves at IKEA. And we continue working to take these percentages even higher. Our commitment goes beyond words. We’ve partnered with FELGTBI+ - Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gais, Trans, Bisexuales, Intersexuales y más and their program, Yes We Trans, developed a comprehensive LGTBIQ+ inclusion plan, and continue to educate our teams on embracing every individual’s uniqueness. At #IKEA, we celebrate every person’s right to love, live, and work, free from closets. Because closets are for the things we cherish, not for hiding our true selves. #inclusion #pride

This "shoe" metaphor for the following definitions just works for me. (I'm not sure who made this graphic though....) • Equality is everyone getting a pair of shoes. • Diversity is everyone getting a different type of shoe. • Equity is everyone getting a pair of shoes that fits. • Acceptance is understanding we all wear different kinds of shoes. • Belonging is wearing the shoes you want without fear of judgment #Equality #Diversity #Equity #Acceptance #Belonging

Expressing Ourselves Beyond Gender Norms People close to us often ask me why my daughter dresses like a boy and my response is... In a world where stereotypes often dictate our choices, it's time to break free from the confines of gender expectations. From clothing to accessories, the items we choose to wear should be a reflection of our personalities, passions, and preferences—not constrained by gender stereotypes. Whether it's sporting a graphic tee from a traditionally male-dominated franchise or rocking a pair of sneakers designed for all genders, we should have the freedom to express ourselves authentically. Let's embrace a world where self-expression knows no gender boundaries. Together, let's celebrate diversity, individuality, and the power of being true to ourselves, regardless of societal expectations. It's time to shatter stereotypes and pave the way for a more inclusive and accepting society where everyone feels empowered to express themselves fully. #expressyourself #truebeauty #authenticity #diversity #inclusivitymatters

This month, we celebrate Diversity Month, which is not only a celebration of all people—regardless of age, race, gender, religion, appearance, or culture—but also a reminder that companies can do more to achieve an equal and positive workplace for all. So, how can you tell if an employer is doing their best to promote diversity? What are the red flags? And how can employers improve their diversity brand? https://lnkd.in/e_WkG8WQ #InsideAmoria

Labour activists across the US are urging Nike to ensure fair wages in its supply chain before the Paris Olympics. Led by the Asia Floor Wage Alliance and Global Labour Justice, hundreds gathered in eight cities, including Portland, Oregon, to address the 'human rights crisis' faced by workers in South and Southeast Asia during the pandemic. - Protestors presented a letter at Converse Headquarters in Boston. - Brochures were handed out at the Washington Trade Symposium. - Signs and banners were waved at the New York Stock Exchange event. The OECD received a complaint from GLJ and AAFA, claiming Nike’s pandemic actions caused layoffs and wage theft. Activists argue Nike cannot promote gender equality without ensuring fair wages for female workers. This is called leadership. This what it means to be an Ally. This is what it means to have empathy. Leaders lifting up their coworkers helping them reach their truest potential. I don’t care if you think if its icky or it’s against your religious beliefs, Treat people with respect.
Every year on March 31, we commemorate #InternationalTransgenderDayofVisibility, when we proudly recognize our transgender employees and their contributions to our Company. Two years ago, our colleague Ciara bravely shared her full, authentic self with us. We’re honored that she continues to share her experiences as we strive to create a culture of inclusion and champion allyship. At P&G, we are committed to being a place where Ciara and all our employees can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Allies like Jo help us uphold our commitment to being an inclusive workplace, which ultimately empowers us to more authentically connect with consumers around the world. #UniqueAndUnited

🔴 Inclusive Employers: Can you share an ‘inclusion moment’ with us – a time when you have felt included either at work or in your personal life? 💬 Jill: When I was having a difficult time as a 26-year-old in Firearms and had been denied body armour that was appropriate for my body, with the explanation that: “You’re not special, we treat everyone the same”. A colleague stepped in, without me asking him to and without me having to explain that my body was different to his. He calmly but assertively explained they needed to treat people according to their needs, not everyone is the same and made it clear this was not up for debate, it just needed doing. He just saw me as a member of the team, not a gender or a problem, or special or demanding, just his colleague. He never made a fuss, always told me I was perfectly average and never different to anyone else when I worked alongside him. 💻 To learn more about our Senior Inclusion and Diversity Consultant, Jill Manfrinato’s inclusion journey, read their Five Minutes With interview: https://lnkd.in/etNUwhRz #Inclusion #Diversity #EDI #FiveMinutesWith

For Pride month, I'm going to talk a lot about what real diversity and inclusion look like. Buckle up sunshine; this is a no-holds-barred queer friendly page. Let's start off with shopping. My non-binary child just hates shopping for apparel. They generally shop in the men's department, but they get some really weird reactions if they try on clothes in the men's dressing room. They can trek all the way to the other side of the store to use the women's dressing room, which isn't any more comfortable for them and has the additional problem of leaving any rejected garments on the wrong side of the store for the staff to recover. Design stores with gender neutral dressing rooms. Most people prefer the improved privacy of these anyway. #Pride #Diversity #RetailDesign

Building a diverse and inclusive workplace: The first step to Progressive Portrayal. I am delighted to be part of an organisation that has #inclusion and #diversity at its core. Diageo’s commitment to #DEI is one of the many reasons I joined the organisation. #DiageoIndia has set several benchmarks not only for the alco-beverage industry but even in the broader consumer companies set – 50% women in the Executive committee is proof that we walk the talk. But what I am truly proud of is Diageo’s commitment to creating a progressive marketing framework. Set up in 2017-18 by key marketing heads including Diageo, the purpose was to tackle the extremely low representation of women in creative content. The framework compelled the advertisers to look at the kind of work they were putting out and gave rise to deeply enriching and insightful conversations with consumers, experts, stakeholders across the brand supply chain. Research showed that inclusive and diverse communication had a direct effect on the growth of the brand, shareholder value, and brand equity. This helped us evaluate the role we play in culture and society at large when we create communications and content. While the framework was originally conceptualized to lend a more balanced gender portrayal, over the past few years, global movements such as Black Lives Matter, gender and sexual fluidity, issues of accessibility, neuro divergence, narratives of ethnic diversity have all contributed to its manifold expansion. The process we follow is to constantly unlearn and relearn so that society and culture can evolve. And the result? Representing the consumer community in our portrayals and communications with sensitivity and in the right cultural context. Here’s an example of Aravani Art Project, a collective of transgender artists on a journey to move the world forward through their art. They #KeepWalking because they believe art has the power to start conversations and reclaim safe spaces. https://lnkd.in/gyhnjE6a Have you seen other pieces of progressive communication? Would love to hear your thoughts! #diversityandinclusion
