First American Financial Corporation Cyberattack: The second-largest title insurance company in the U.S., First American Financial Corporation, has experienced a cyberattack, leading to the company taking certain systems offline to contain the impact. Previous Cybersecurity Violations: First American Financial Corporation had previously faced cybersecurity issues in May 2019, resulting in a $1 million penalty for violating New York's Department of Financial Services' Cybersecurity Regulation. The breach involved a vulnerability in their EaglePro application, allowing unauthorized access to sensitive documents. Industry-Wide Impact: Another major title insurance provider, Fidelity National Financial, disclosed a similar cybersecurity incident last month. The company took containment measures, including blocking access to certain systems, and is working on restoring normal business operations. One thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t think about Web3 vulnerabilities alone. Yes, there are attack types unique to Web3, but looking at the organization wholisticly, identifying weaknesses in people, processes and technologies is imperative.
