If you know me, you know that raising awareness and educating others about Human Trafficking is a cause close to my heart. Today, on World Day Against Human Trafficking, I want to share some critical information about this pervasive issue: Common Types of Human Trafficking: - Forced Labor: Individuals are compelled to work against their will, often under threats or as a form of indentured servitude. - Sex Trafficking: Victims are coerced into performing sexual acts. - Child Soldiers: Children are exploited as combatants in conflicts. Key Statistics: - 49.6 million people are currently trapped in modern slavery worldwide, including 12 million children. (ILO, UN) - 54% of these victims are women and girls, with the remaining 46% being men and boys. (ILO) - In the U.S., sex trafficking is the most prevalent form of trafficking. (Polaris) - Child sex trafficking has been reported in all 50 states. (NCMEC) - Human trafficking generates a staggering $150 billion annually. (UNICEF) - It is the second most profitable illegal industry in the U.S. (UNICEF) Let’s use this day to amplify our efforts in combating human trafficking and supporting its victims. Your awareness and action can make a significant difference. #humantrafficking #HT101 #HTAwareness To learn more.. take a listen: https://lnkd.in/gtVEVEHN

Our message to party leaders:
Last week we delivered an open letter signed by ourselves and partners asking party leaders to take action when it comes to supporting the victims of adult sexual exploitation in the UK. The sexual exploitation of adults is hidden in the cracks of society across this country, whereby the most vulnerable people are systemically targeted for abuse and trapped with no way to escape. As we approach the upcoming General Election, we are calling for the incoming government to commit to the following pillars for change to adequately support victims of adult sexual exploitation. Deception, coercion, exploitation, isolation, manipulation: These and many more are the razor-edged tools in the hands of human traffickers. In crass cruelty, they leverage on the vulnerability of others to ruthlessly profit in their exploitation. This has tremendously undermined public safety, increasing crime rates and as well precipitating notorious crime networks with numerous gangs of criminals to beat; leading to a frightening rate of spread of killer diseases and psychological trauma among the victims and their contacts. This act of violation to the fundamental human right has not gone unnoticed, hence the reason for the Unitednations offical annual awareness against trafficking-in-persons. This year's edition comes up on the 30th of July, with the theme, "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking". Join me on a live webinar on the 30th of July as I engage duty bearers like the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Toyin Balogun and a host of other relevant duty bearers on topical issues relating to human trafficking and child abuse. Connect through the link below or scan the QR code on the flyer to participate. #jdpcibadan #human #humanity #humanrights #humantrafficking #humantraffickingawareness #endhumantrafficking

National Human Trafficking Awareness Day on January 11th brings attention to a crime that leaves a lasting toll on human life, families, and communities around the world. Human trafficking is considered a modern form of slavery. This illegal act involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain labor or sex. Traffickers use violence, manipulation, or false promises to lure their victims into trafficking situations. Trafficking victims usually experience physical and/or psychological abuse. They might also endure sexual abuse, food and sleep deprivation, threats to family members, and isolation from the outside world. The goal of the day is to bring greater awareness to the crime of trafficking. Each year, organizations around the globe provide support to communities, training to volunteers and educational events to increase awareness. #HumanTraffickingAwarenessDay
