Unintentionally, my entire professional journey has revolved around the maritime sector. Many of you may be familiar with my background as a vessel operator, bunker purchaser, and charterer. However, all my other roles have also maintained a connection to the shipping and maritime domain. Prior to becoming a maritime recruiter, I dedicated two years to building luxury carbon fibre yachts in Italy and Slovenia as a boat builder. Even in my early days while studying, I started off in the kitchen of the Royal Yacht Squadron, where my passion for cooking also took hold. This is sad Tim Armit. But the challenge in such cases is that neither you/ BUPA nor the conference organisers would have identified BA as a third party dependency/ risk. BA on the other hand has too many customers so as a non-resilient organisation, they don't care. Its worth looking into BA's documents whether this has been registered as a possible risk and what likelihood and impact/ severity and what mitigation. Is it Green risk (whatever may be the impact, its within their appetite!) for them? Finally, whether they recorded this happening in their incident register or an after crisis/ disaster report is created! Most likely, its just an incident for them.

Norse Atlantic Airways' network woes continue – and not just in winter. It has now cut summer-seasonal London Gatwick to Boston and Washington Dulles. While no surprise given both were at what seemed to be full fare for a while, it is still a major change. In response, it has doubled Gatwick-JFK to twice daily in S23. But due to a lack of slots at good times, this will leave Gatwick at 20:40, arrive in JFK at 23:30, leave at 01:30, and get back at 13:30. A very big ouch. While Gatwick-Los Angeles remains this summer, frequencies have fallen depending on the week. They are now three to six weekly, down from daily. Everyone knows getting slots is one thing and using them is another. Norse has secured Gatwick slots for Las Vegas and Dubai slots for Gatwick. Many cruise ships spend the southern hemisphere summer home-porting in Dubai, Africa and Australasia, before returning to the Mediterranean in time for Europe’s summer cruise season. The quickest route ‘home’ to the Mediterranean is via the Red Sea and Suez Canal, but to reach the Canal ships must sail through the Bab Al Mandeb Strait off the coast of Yemen. With the ongoing conflict in the region – including Houthi rebels firing cruise missiles at vessels – ever-cautious cruise companies are choosing to reroute their ships the (much) longer way around the southern tip of Africa.
