𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝘆𝗲𝗿 The 1977 Formula 1 German Grand Prix at Hockenheim holds a story so unique it blurs the lines between audacity and sheer perseverance. Hans Heyer, a name synonymous with touring car racing, found himself in an F1 car, a Penske for the ATS team, with little to no single-seater experience. Despite failing to qualify, ranking 27th out of 30, Heyer's racing tale took an unexpected turn that would etch his name in motorsport folklore. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝘀 (𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱) On race day, amidst the chaos and confusion at the start, Heyer, driven by a blend of determination and perhaps a nudge from sponsors eager for visibility, did the unthinkable. Heyer slipped out of the pits and onto the track, joining the race unnoticed by the stewards until his premature retirement on lap 9 due to a gearbox failure. This act of defiance, cheered on by the local crowd, left Heyer with a record that remains unmatched: a DNQ (Did Not Qualify), a DNF (Did Not Finish), and a DSQ (Disqualified) in a single Grand Prix. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘆 The marshals, often the unsung heroes of motorsport, play a crucial role in the safety and smooth running of races. From ensuring the track is clear of debris to signaling drivers with crucial flag messages, their presence is indispensable. Yet, in Heyer's case, they completely overlooked the rogue driver out on the circuit, adding a layer of human intrigue to the rigidly regulated world of Formula 1. Heyer's story is a testament to the unpredictable and often unconventional paths to achieving one's dreams. It raises questions about the lengths to which one should go to pursue their passion and the role of rules in the face of human ambition and determination. The third generation of car has two powertrains, and is the most efficient formula racing car ever with more than 40% of the energy used within a race produced by regenerative braking. It is also the fastest Formula E car yet with a top speed over 322 kph / 200 mph. Once again the championship broke new ground, racing on four new circuits in three new countries. A trio of back-to-back races in India, South Africa and Brazil were a season highlight, having never raced there before. Portland also saw a return of racing to the United States of America. Another close battle unfolded for the title, but it was Briton’s Jake Dennis who left as World Champion. The Andretti driver locked in 11 podiums across the 16 rounds of the calendar to set a new record. https://lnkd.in/e4Pdm6bG Congratulations to Charles Leclerc and Ferrari for winning the F1 in Monaco. The Championship becomes more interesting, unfortunately the races not. The more equal the race cars the less action we can aspect on the track. The qualification become, in special on street circuits, more important in the whole weekend since overtaking is nearly impossible. Why not make some changes to make it like with DRS more interesting: Why not prohibit a tire change within the first 10 laps of a race? Or, introduce Tracksplit to circuits so overtaking give drivers a little bit more hope during a race. Although it still would be hard in Monaco, at least there is a much bigger opportunity to make an attempt. Now it is boring to watch and for drivers to race.
