I am so very grateful for the mentor who, many years ago, said to me, "Beth it will save you a lot of trouble if you strive for excellence instead of perfection." This really helped me overcome the need to constantly prove myself. Do you struggle with perfectionism? That's a tough one! Here are some ideas for you: https://lnkd.in/ebsxJmZF

Yesterday, I was spotlighted at the Daughters of Awakening Community meeting, a gathering of amazing kingdom women making significant strides in their industries. These are women who trust God and understand the importance of His purpose in their lives. Sharing my journey and imparting wisdom to these women was a surreal experience. What struck me most during the meeting was the realization that I had been so hard on myself for the past two months. Feeling unfulfilled and unsure of my place in the world, I allowed negative comments to make me doubt my abilities. Surprised? It happens to the best of us sometimes. Today, I choose to be grateful for the gift of life, the courage to dream bigger, and the resilience to learn from my failures. I’m reminded that those who celebrate our successes may not always support us in our struggles, and that's okay. If you're just starting your journey, remember this: don't be afraid to take that first step, read, research, and seek out ways to improve. Stay positive, stay focused, and always keep your vision in sight. It’s up to you how far you can go. Stop stalling and keep pushing! Do you agree that as long as you keep a positive mindset and focus on your goals, you can achieve anything you set out to do? #myjourney #productmanager #programmanagement

How comfortable are you with being vulnerable, shame and putting yourself out there? Confronting it? What good does it bring when we do? Hey Brené Brown I see you and in absolute awe and gratitude of you and your work! 🌼 Thank you 🌼 Recently, I’ve been reminded of the incredible power of vulnerability, both in professional settings and in our personal lives. 🌱 After navigating a challenging yet ultimately rewarding journey with members of a board I’ve served on for years, where we embraced open dialogue and mutual understanding, I was touched by similar themes in my iDO BreakThrough Programme with our Year 12 and 13 students. 👩🏾🏫🙋🏾♀️One student’s feedback particularly resonated with me as she was so keen to share with me the progress she’d made on the Inspirational Tool we help students to create to support their academic journey. When looking at the different emotions and aspects of herself which get in the way of her progress, she was quick and confident to share “anger” but felt ashamed about revealing her sadness… but it opened up a powerful conversation about vulnerability, shame and opportunites for greater freedom beyond them. This moment was a powerful reminder that when we dare to be vulnerable and speak our truths, we not only foster connection and healing in ourselves but also create a ripple effect that encourages others to do the same. 💖 🔗 The alignment between these experiences has reinforced my belief in the importance of creating environments—whether in boardrooms or classrooms—where individuals feel safe to express themselves authentically, courageously communicating their concerns, needs etc the best they can. It’s in these spaces that true growth and understanding can flourish. And it’s possible to navigate 🌟 As I reflect on these experiences, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunities to facilitate and witness such profound connections and breakthroughs. It’s a reminder that our most challenging moments often lead to our greatest achievements and that vulnerability, when embraced, is a powerful catalyst for change. 💪🌈 #Leadership #VulnerabilityIsStrength #MentalHealthAwareness #Education #Inclusion #GrowthMindset #dandelionorganisation #idobreakthroughprogramme #personalleadership

We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control how it shapes our lives. This is a lesson Krista Bourne, Former Fortune 20 Consumer COO and WeQual Alumni, learned firsthand. “When I found myself pregnant at 19, I made the decision to leave college. In that moment I realised I would now be a statistic and it was up to me to decide what kind of statistic I was going to be. And that was where the personal accountability came. I made that choice to leave college. And so now I needed to make another choice to be successful,” she explains. Krista’s story is a reminder that success is a choice, and we all have the power to make it. Take a minute to look back at your path. What moments truly shaped you? Understanding these can help you recognize your strengths and where you can grow. Think about what you really want from your life and career. Then, set goals that are specific, realistic, and time bound. It’s about plotting out your future, one achievable goal at a time, and moving actively towards the story you want to tell. Remember, you’re not alone. Find mentors, peers, and professionals who can guide and encourage you. And don’t forget to give back by supporting others. Sharing our stories and wisdom makes us all stronger and drives us toward mutual growth and accountability. What narrative will you craft from your unique experiences so far? #WeQual #OwnYourStory #GenderDiversity #WomeninBusiness

✨ The World is Their Oyster: Teaching My Kids About Limitless Possibilities ✨ As parents, we all want the best for our children. We want them to be happy, successful, and fulfilled. But sometimes, we can get caught up in our own experiences and limitations, inadvertently passing on those same anxieties to our kids. That's why I'm making a conscious effort to instill in my children the belief that they can make it in life whatever way they want. The world is a vast and ever-changing place, offering a wealth of opportunities that were unimaginable just a generation ago. Here's what I'm teaching them: Embrace Curiosity: The world is full of wonder and knowledge. Encourage them to ask questions, explore new things, and never stop learning. Cultivate Creativity: There's no single path to success. Help them develop their creative thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and the courage to pursue their passions, even if they're unconventional. Embrace Failure: Failure is not the end, it's a stepping stone. Teach them to learn from their mistakes, bounce back stronger, and see setbacks as opportunities for growth. Be Kind and Compassionate: The world needs more empathy and kindness. Encourage them to be good humans, to help others, and to make a positive impact on the world around them. Be Open to Change: The world is constantly evolving. Encourage them to be adaptable, embrace new technologies, and stay ahead of the curve. There are so many opportunities out there for them! From traditional careers to entrepreneurial ventures, from creative pursuits to scientific discoveries, the possibilities are truly limitless. Let's empower our children to believe in themselves and their dreams. Let's teach them that they can shape their own future and create a world that reflects their values and aspirations. #parenting #education #inspiration #future #opportunity #kids #growth #success #motivation #entrepreneur #innovation #creativity #kindness #empowerment #believe #dreambig #makeadifference #changemakers #futureisbright #opportunityknocks

As a DEI practitioner, my work is rooted in the principles of equity, inclusion, and justice. But one thing I’ve learned over the years is that this work also demands a commitment to continuous learning—about others and ourselves. Every conversation, every training session, every new piece of research reveals layers of complexity in the human experience. The nuances of identity, privilege, and systemic inequality are vast, and just when you think you’ve somewhat grasped them, another dimension emerges. Another layer is exposed. Your epistemology gets rocked. This is what makes our work both challenging and incredibly rewarding. For me, growth in this field isn’t about reaching a finish line; it’s about constantly evolving. It’s about listening deeply, questioning assumptions, punching upwards, and embracing productive discomfort as a sign that I’m on the right track. The world is changing rapidly, and so too must our approaches to co-creating an equitable world.. I’m grateful for the opportunities to learn from the diverse communities I serve and the brilliant colleagues, clients, friends, and family who challenge me daily. Together, we push the boundaries of what’s possible in creating equitable systems—knowing that our journey is ongoing and that our growth never ends. Let’s keep challenging ourselves, staying curious, and striving for the kind of change that transforms not just policies, but lives. And thank you to Nikki Giovani for the reminder that growth comes from change. #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #Antiracism #ContinuousLearning #SocialJustice #ChallengeYourself #NikkiGiovanni

As part of our “ask us anything” videos, we started with a question we often get: “will you be my mentor?” We won’t get into women being over-mentored and under-sponsored (yet!) but we will get into how to set yourself and your potential mentor up for success with an easy and practical tip. https://lnkd.in/gGrF7sUK
