You don’t need to overcomplicate getting started in the work of welcome. “The first thing is to build a relationship,” says Andrew Mead, pastor at Church of the Servant. “Be a welcoming person and ask someone their name. Listen to their story and create a human connection.” At Bethany, we collaborate with others to provide essential support to refugees and show the love and compassion of Jesus. There are many opportunities to partner with us in this work the Church is called to. Learn more about how you and your church can help refugees in your community: https://lnkd.in/gqGh-e_H

Dearest Church, The Haitians are here. That is a fact. These refugees aren't going home. (and home isn't a place they, or anyone for that matter, really want to be.) While I am inclined to broadly agree with President Trump on immigration issues, I don't think we can afford, for the sake of our faith and fidelity to scripture, to do so here. They're here legally, and that is that. In the future, perhaps we can prevent incursions like this administration has created, but, for now, we must decide to make lemonade and be salt and light to the least of these. While elements on the left try to gaslight folks, it is indisputable that the Haitians have brought with them elements of their culture that not only clash with American culture but are evil. Haiti is a largely Catholic nation, and Catholicism has allowed syncretism to be the rule of the day in South America and the Caribbean. This is the exact moment for social ministry. Already there are Christian boots on the ground in Springfield. We need more. I call upon NAMB and the SBC to step up and plant a couple churches there and fund an assistance ministry that would offer English language, financial literacy, cultural literacy, and Bible classes. Why don't I go? Well, I'm already engaged in church planting down here in Texas or I might. I felt the need to remind Christians, due to my perusal of social media, that we are people of action, not merely words. It is okay to be angry about how things went down. It is okay to be horrified at what you've heard. It is not okay to scapegoat Haitians who have taken refuge in America. We have to help them, not castigate them. #HaitianRefugees #SocialMinistry #Compassion #FaithInAction

There are two strategies towards international missions: 1) Sending missionaries/global workers to an area 2) Supporting local churches in an area Many focus on one or the other, but when it comes to the 10/40 window (which runs across north Africa, the Middle East, and much of Asia) it really needs to be a both/and. With 3.2 billion people living in areas with little to no access to the Gospel, we need to be sending and supporting. Sending allows the church to parachute the Gospel into areas where there may not be any known believers. And supporting local churches in these areas eliminates the cultural, language, and sustainability challenges that many who are sent face. I'm thankful for the vision and mission of Radical. Radical's Training Center is focused on helping churches send and send well, and our Global Investment team is focused on helping churches use their resources to support biblically faithful and practically effective work among unreached people groups. If I can help your church in either of these areas please reach out. We are here to serve you and your church as you live on mission among your neighborhoods and among the nations. #radical #missions #church

#UN Women UK Look at the dire situation of women in india . I need support from UN Women and UN Women UK to wage this war and get justice , safety , protection for every woman facing these crimes , challenges , issues and injustice Don’t we say in #Indian #Betiyan Sabki Sanjhi hoti hai ( daughters belong to us all as daughters ) Then do you not see every #daughter that is #tortured this way , it’s #affecting us That #pain , those #tears are in our #hearts and won’t let us #stop until we put an #end to all this #once and for #all On ground our foundations are working seamlessly to create enormities programmes to empower our women force , eduction , life skills , defence , legal aid . We are also setting up programmes to educate parents in terms of educating their girls and boys at home . I believe this is specifically a mental behaviour and mindset that we are fighting against. Which we will have to overcome by taking firm Step but trust me fear is instrumental in making an individual deter from crime if the punishment was instant, just and terrifying Including public name-shame #deuchakar Please look at the situation of women in india 🇮🇳 https://lnkd.in/gysMFwPb https://lnkd.in/evpU9CuW

Senior Wellness Counselor | PR Director at Citta Consultancy | Mental Health Advocate & Community Impact Leader | Expert in Public Relations, Mental Health Awareness, and Psychosocial Support
In certain regions of Myanmar, arranged marriages for children who are not yet of age still occur as part of traditional customs. While these practices are deeply rooted in culture, it’s important for guardians to understand the potential psychological harm they may be unintentionally causing their children. ‼️ To address this, raising mental health awareness is crucial, helping parents and guardians become more aware of how such traditions could impact their children’s emotional and mental wellbeing. Promoting mental health education can encourage more thoughtful decisions that prioritize the child’s long-term happiness and mental health. ✅

🧡 3 reasons why Peace Starts Here 👉🏽 1️⃣ PEACE is longer lasting when local efforts to build it are better supported. 2️⃣ PEACEBUILDING is much more than the prevention of war; it’s an active process based on the practice of peaceful living. 3️⃣ PEACEBUILDERS are better placed to identify and prevent conflict at its root causes when they’re an active part of the community and included in decisions about that community. 🧡Peace Starts Here is a global movement for everyone who supports grassroots peacebuilding. It's a global movement created by local peacebuilders, for local peacebuilders. Their five asks are here: https://lnkd.in/ei8z2idH 🧡Read more about the ten co-creators behind this campaign: https://lnkd.in/e_qSv--V #peacebuilding #peace

Across the world, Christians are preparing to celebrate Easter. Europe is no different, except that a growing number of European churches are migrant churches. Congregations comprised of migrants from multiple, diverse nations are becoming deeply entrenched in a continent which is increasingly secular. Across Europe, the numbers of those rejecting organised religion are growing. Since Christianity was birthed in the Middle East, among cultures where community was a vital component of society, the concept of discipleship naturally carried a communal focus. There are several instances in Scripture where entire families came to a saving knowledge of Christ. Acts 2 emphasises the life-giving value of living in community. Migrants to Europe often bring this deep sense of togetherness to a continent which, for several reasons, has become increasingly inward-focused. Local church communities are being stretched to view evangelism, missions and church planting in different ways while being challenged to reshape their institutions and rethink their understanding of ministry. The focus is less on events and much more on relationships and doing life together. 💠 We are creating an indispensable resource. JustKindHumility aims to provide spiritual support and relevant resources for those serving the most vulnerable among us- the victims of natural disasters, humanitarian crises, war, oppression, and material poverty. These devotional handbooks are designed to support those called to Christian missions and humanitarian work. 💠 We began a Journey. Through over 20 years of serving on short-term international and local mission teams, we recognized a need for a team tool that would help prepare for and process trips. We also saw a need to help teams serve with sensitivity and use best practices when entering into another country and culture. With a background in Christian ministry, humanitarian leadership, and non-profit leadership, we envisioned the combination of a devotional that dives deeply into the motivations and challenges for doing this kind of work along with a handbook that presents culture, language and insights into the people group to be serve. 💠 Our next steps. Micah 6:8 became the theme passage for the entirety of this work. It recalls God’s essential way of living: to act justly, to love kindness and to walk humbly with Him. Reflecting this theme, our desire is to provide resources for those who are serving in this way: the justice seekers, the ones called to mercy and those who are walking humbly with God as they journey into service. 💠 Our booklets are part devotional and part handbook. The devotional includes Scriptural prompts to help prepare for time abroad, provide reflection while on site and offer ways to help with re-adjustment upon returning home. The handbook section includes country-specific facts, data, statistics and language as well as copious amounts of "on the ground" resources. 💠 There is nothing ordinary about the call to go and there is nothing ordinary about these devotional handbooks! 📖 ✝ ➡ To learn more, visit www.justkindhumility.org #devotional #missions #christian #travel
