When boating in an 18-foot boat, you're legally required to have a Visual Distress Signal (VDS). From BoatUS Foundation: A wide variety of signaling devices, both pyrotechnic and non-pyrotechnic, can be carried to meet the requirements of the regulation. 🚤 Recreational boats less than 16' operating in coastal waters need only carry night signaling devices when operated at night. All other boats must carry both night and day signaling devices. 🚤 Any combination can be carried as long as they add up to three signals for day use and three signals for night use. Three day/ night signaling devices meet both requirements. Just as Alex thought the mission was complete, he noticed something else. Nearby, a school of fish was caught in another section of the ghost fishing gear. Determined to help, he moved towards them and started cutting away the lines. The underwater scene was chaotic, but Alex’s focus was unwavering. In that moment, Alex realized the true value of having reliable equipment. It wasn't just about personal safety; it was about being able to make a real difference. The Divtop spearfishing Knife had become more than just a tool; it was a lifeline for the creatures of the sea. Returning to the surface, Alex felt a deep sense of satisfaction. The dive had started as a leisurely exploration but had turned into a rescue mission, showcasing the unpredictable nature of the ocean. He knew that every dive could bring new challenges and opportunities to protect marine life. Inspired by this experience, Alex shared his story with the diving community. His tale of the turtle rescue spread quickly, encouraging other divers to be prepared and proactive in their conservation efforts. The message was clear: with the right tools, every diver could contribute to preserving the ocean’s beauty and health. 🤿 What unexpected challenges have you faced while diving, and how did you overcome them? “Couldn’t you use one big balloon instead of multiple smaller lift bags?” 🎈🎈🎈 There are a few practical reasons behind using multiple, relatively small (approx.50 kg lift) lift bags. Efficiency: Ghost fishing gear is most of the time spread across a considerably large area. To remove as much waste as possible, we need to apply lifting force at multiple points along the ghost nets. Conservation: We are here to protect the marine environment and cultural heritage. Very often we need to be careful when lifting ghost fishing gear from the reefs or wrecks. Delicate marine life and historical wrecks could be easily damaged if we applied too much lift to rip the ghost nets up. Safety: Considering the above-listed points, lifting ghost fishing gear gradually helps to keep the operation under control and therefore make it safe for our underwater volunteers. For freediving, do you need a knife? While freediving often involves exploring shallower depths, there's still a risk of encountering underwater obstacles like fishing lines, nets, or kelp that could entangle a diver. A knife can be used to cut through these materials, preventing dangerous situations. Additionally, a knife can serve as a self-defense tool in rare cases of aggressive marine life encounters, and it can also be used as a signaling device in an emergency. It's important to note that while a knife is a valuable tool, it should be used with caution and only as a last resort. Proper training and knowledge of knife safety are essential for all divers, including freediving enthusiasts. #diving #scuba #scubadiving #divtop #sea #underwater #spearfishing #fishing #ocean #watersports #freediving #oceanic #divingbuoy #divingfloat #divingsurfacemarkerbuoy #divingsausage #scubapro #oceanic #mares #snorkeling #divingsafety #divingEquipment #divingaccessory #divinglanyard #divingknife #divingmask #divingfin #divingwetsuit #divingglove #divinglight #freediving #divingsafetyproduct #DEMAshow #divingaccessory #divingfin #divingmask #watersports #kayak

Why Every Diver Needs a BCD Knife? In the unpredictable underwater world, your gear is your lifeline. Among the essentials, a BCD knife stands out as a must-have tool for every diver. Whether you’re navigating through kelp forests, exploring coral reefs, or diving in open water, the unexpected can happen at any time. A reliable BCD knife isn't just a tool—it's a safeguard against the unknown. Imagine getting caught in fishing lines or dealing with an equipment malfunction. In these critical moments, having a BCD knife within reach could be the difference between a close call and a dangerous situation. Its sharp blade can cut through ropes, lines, and other potential hazards, giving you the ability to act quickly and effectively. But it’s not just about your own safety. A BCD knife can also be the tool that helps you save a fellow diver in distress. When every second counts, having the right tool at hand is crucial. Do you carry a BCD knife on your dives? What situations have made you glad you had one? #diving #scuba #scubadiving #divtop #sea #underwater #spearfishing #fishing #ocean #watersports #freediving #oceanic #divingbuoy #divingfloat #divingsurfacemarkerbuoy #divingsausage #scubapro #oceanic #mares #snorkeling #divingsafety #divingEquipment #divingaccessory #divinglanyard #divingknife #divingmask #divingfin #divingwetsuit #divingglove #divinglight #freediving #divingsafetyproduct #DEMAshow #divingaccessory #divingfin #divingmask #watersports #kayak

As a funny parrotfish fact, they produce the sand you see around the reefs. These underwater gourmets are practically eating all the time. They spend 90% of their day taking bites of algae and corals. The coral goes through a digestive process and is finally… expelled as excrement, which turns out to be the white sand we know! Each adult can generate around 20-40 kg of sand per year. The truth is that identifying parrotfish can be quite a challenge. Why? Well, because they drastically change their shape, color, and markings as they go through different stages of development: 🐟 First, there is the juvenile phase, where they are like shy and discreet little fish. 🐡 Then comes the initial phase, where they begin to show their first flashes of bright colors. 🐠 And finally, they become the Hollywood stars of the oceans when they reach the terminal phase, the longest and most colorful of all.
