What are the PACKs ⠀ To start with, PACK is an acronym and stands for Pressurization Air Conditioning Kit.⠀ ⠀ As its name implies, its function is to provide us with Pressurization and Air conditioning.⠀ ⠀ When air comes into the engines, it’s compressed by the compressors and this increases the air pressure and temperature.⠀ ⠀ The packs are designed to reduce the temperature and pressure of the hot bleed air taken from the engines and remove its moisture so we can maintain the desired quality of air, temperature and pressure inside the cabin.⠀ ⠀ This is achieved with the help of heat exchangers, an air cycle machine and a water separator.⠀ ⠀ This way we can cruise at 40000 ft at a cabin altitude of not more than 8000 ft and at the desired temperature, while outside air temperature is -56° C .

Christmas shutdown tips On the final day before your Christmas shutdown where possible : - Check required frequency of fan/conveyor/airlock shaft rotations - Undertake an extended clean down of your self cleaning filter - Clear all hoppers and discharge devices of materials - Check compressed air receivers for water and drain - Record system static pressures for comparison on restart - Check trace heating and thermostat settings - Drain wet dust collectors or check immersion tank heating - Safely isolate equipment ready for restart in January - Check with suppliers and follow their extended shutdown protocols Give FilterWise a call in 2025 and see how together we can reduce the operating cost of your filtration system

Hi Everyone, Let’s know some knowledge about ship’s main engine: - For starting the main engine. There are important systems are to be checked... - Air system… - Fuel oil system… - Lube oil system... - Water system… I. Checks and preparation carried out in air system prior to starting: · Check oil level in air compressors and check for any water presence in the oil · Only one air bottle is to be used and other to be kept stand-by for use in the event of emergency · Check Main Air Bottle pressure and ensure that the Main Air Compressors are running fine. Drain the air bottle before opening the Starting Air Valve of the air bottle · Drain water in the control air system at the receiver · Ensure that the spring air is open for the exhaust valve · Always open Spring air first before starting hydraulic oil to exhaust for preventing excessive opening of the valve II. Checks and preparation carried out in fuel system: · Ensure supply trace heating to fuel system pipes is open · Check oil temperature of fuel as per the engine requirement by using viscometer (Normally maintained between 130-140 ° C at the point of injection) ·When the set point in the viscosity controller is reached, change it into auto · Drain water from Service and Settling tanks · Ensure governor linkage is working properly · Check lube oil level in the governor III. Checks and preparation in the water system: · Maintain cooling water around 50 °C when the engine is stopped · Check jacket cooling water expansion tank level · Check the system automatic vent valve is in proper operating condition · Isolate the heating of jacket water preheater once engine is at higher RPM IV. Checks and Preparation in lube oil system: · Check level of main engine sump · Check level of cylinder oil daily tank · Check level of camshaft lube oil tank (if separate system is provided) · If turbocharger has its own sump, check oil level with sight glass · Close the heating steam to main engine sump once the engine starts running · Check lube oil cooler sea water valve controller and bypass valve are working properly · Turn the engine with the turning gear and check auto cylinder oil lubrication by using pre-lubrication button in the control room panel. The correct status will be indicated by LEDs in the panel #Main_Engine #Marine_operation

10 Steps for Daily Maintenance of Screw Air Compressors in Summer: 1. Frequently monitor the temperature, especially in high temperatures. 2. Ensure proper ventilation and that there is no nearby heat source. 3. Check for oil shortages. 4. Inspect the air filter for clogs or other issues. 5. Ensure the oil cooler is free of dust. 6. Verify that the oil cooler fan is functioning normally. 7. Check if the oil filter and pipes are clear and unblocked. 8. Ensure the temperature sensor and temperature control valve are working properly. 9. Use Elgi Oil. 10. Lower the room temperature.
