🍇 Wine Australia Welcomes New Board Members as Sector Faces Critical Challenges 🍷 As of 1 October, five new non-executive directors have joined Wine Australia’s board, appointed by the Albanese Government after an extensive selection process. The new appointees—Dr Angeline Achariya, Roslyn Baker, Andrew Kay, Elizabeth Riley, and Peta Slack-Smith—will serve alongside Chair Dr Michele Allan AO for a three-year term. Minister for Agriculture, Julie Collins, emphasised the collective expertise of the new board, noting their capacity to drive profitability, resilience, and sustainability in Australia's wine sector. 🌱 Australian Grape & Wine, which appointed the independent selection committee, expressed confidence in the new board's ability to guide the sector through its current challenges. CEO Lee McLean highlighted the importance of collaboration between Wine Australia and the industry body to ensure the success of the recently launched One Grape & Wine Sector Plan. With six urgent priorities outlined for completion by June 2024, the new board members are expected to play a critical role in steering the sector forward. 🚀 The incoming board will also be responsible for the 2025 Wine Australia strategic plan, which seeks to address commercial, technical, and environmental challenges. Wine Australia's CEO Martin Cole acknowledged the vital leadership of outgoing board members and the necessity of the new directors to bring passion and knowledge to the table, ensuring the continued growth and global competitiveness of Australian wine. #WineAustralia #AustralianWine #WineIndustry #Leadership #Sustainability #WineSector

Aside from all the main benefits we shout about (speed, ease of use, brand compliance, a vetted cloud printing network - the list goes on!) my favourite part of this article is probably that our technology is: “Replacing slow and inefficient manual systems”. Who doesn’t want tech that makes their job quicker and easier?! 🙌🏻

The latest cohort of Future Leaders have shared their critique of the One Grape & Wine Sector Plan draft. In an open letter to Wine Australia and Australian Grape & Wine, the authors acknowledge how they as a group have benefited from Wine Australia’s Future Leaders program, and highlight their apt position as graduates of this program to comment on the needs of the industry. The letter raises concerns that the draft lacks clarity of action and “quantifiable, accountable targets.” https://lnkd.in/gcEJY2Te #dailywinenews #wineindustry #wineaustralia #onesectorplan

Our CEO, Joanne Newborn just returned from Portugal, taking a tour of the Douro Valley and visiting a few incredible wineries. The messaging was the same, as I’ve heard from other countries, “We have too much wine, because people aren’t buying and drinking as much.” In fact, although 2024 was an incredible year for the grapes, many vineyards were deciding not to harvest all of them, and just let them die on the vine. It is heartbreaking for someone who spent decades in the Wine & Spirits business. Why is this important? While the story is sad, it isn’t going to help to sell more. Yet data will help tell stories that are “win” for on & off premise accounts, and knowing HOW to use the data and WHAT to do with it, is what makes data so powerful. At our upcoming invitation-only Executive Forum we are sharing some ways to do this. We recently sponsored WSWA’s Women’s Leadership Council Conference and we will be sharing some key insights, data, and 2025 predictions from the conference, and specifically from VIP and Sip Source that will help you and your teams to see how to use this information to take action in Q4 2024 and set up your Q1 2025 for success. Join us on Friday, October 25, 12:00 noon ET for a conversation around “Data-Driven Success: Empowering Wine & Spirits Suppliers & Distributors to Dominate Q4 2024 & Lead Q1 2025."
