Known as the “Choice of Champions,” Clermont has a reputation as a training ground for athletes, from high school athletes and regional record-breakers to Olympians; among those who have lived or trained here are Shane Greene, an MLB pitcher for the Atlanta Braves who was named an All Star in 2019; Nina Kraft, the oldest professional female Ironman winner; and Noah Lyles, an Olympic Gold Medalist and world record-holding sprinter. But beyond its ample sporting facilities, Clermont is full of pristine lakes, parks and trails. In 2018, it was designated as a Trail Town by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Greenways and Trails System and has been nationally certified as a runner-friendly and bicycle-friendly community. Don’t miss the picturesque 13-mile South Lake Trail, with hills, lakes and panoramic vistas. It’s part of the under-construction Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail, which, when completed, will stretch from the east to west coasts of Florida, from Titusville to St. Petersburg. Clermont was founded in 1884 and incorporated in 1916, when its main industry was citrus production (that industry thrived until the 1960s). Today, it is the largest city in Lake County, one of the fastest growing counties in Florida. Its historic downtown is the heartbeat of the city, supported by Clermont Main Street, a passionate group of businesses and volunteers working to revitalize the area through a mix of public funding, grants, sponsorships and community events. Strategic Planning is an important phase of any growing organization/association.

There ya have it folks... Anyone who has spent time traveling across the US has probably seen impressively sized American flags. You see them everywhere — at local car dealerships, veteran memorials, and anywhere where people want to show off their love for America. However, only one place can claim to have the largest American flag. In 1981, Ski Demski of Long Beach, California, commissioned the Superflag, the world’s largest American flag. The Superflag is a massive flag measuring 255’x555’. It weighs more than 3,000 lbs and requires the help of more than 600 volunteers to transport! Each star is 17 feet high, and the stripes are 20 feet wide. The flag is so huge that it can cover a football field one and a half times. The Superflag holds the title for the largest American flag, but that is expected to change soon. Worchester Resources has plans to make the tiny town of Columbia Falls, Maine, home to the largest American flag and the tallest flagpole in the world. The project includes a plan to build a flagpole rising 1,776 feet above sea level (taller than the Empire State Building!), a 4,000-seat auditorium, and monument walls with the names of all 24 million US veterans. It's an honor and privilege to serve Restorative Farms (RF), an incredible non-profit, located in the heart of South Dallas, Texas. RF is dedicated to transforming lives in a community facing significant challenges, including being designated the most impoverished in the state. Their core mission revolves around building a sustainable, economically strong, and well-managed urban farm serving as the foundation for a thriving community "agrisystem" within Dallas. This replicable model aims to address food deserts by providing residents with access to fresh, ethically sourced food. But RF goes beyond just food. They offer professional training and employment opportunities, empowering individuals, including those formerly incarcerated, to achieve financial stability and contribute to community development. The founders, Brad Boa, Tyrone Day, Doric Earle, and Owen Lynch, envision RF as a collaborative effort with the community to tackle three critical issues: - Providing healthy, affordable produce: Ensuring individuals living in food deserts have access to affordable, fresh, medical-grade food. - Boosting the local economy: Creating income opportunities for community members through farm production and sales. - Empowering the community: Equipping individuals with training, work experience, and leadership skills to break the cycle of poverty and resource depletion. RF is more than just a farm; it's a systems-based solution. They're committed to building a self-sustaining, climate-conscious, and profitable network of farms and people, all working towards a shared mission of community upliftment. Tom Etling, Managing Partner of Etling Strategy Partners (ESP), joins The5 to talk about Brand Strategy Management.  Tom talks about how a nonprofit can and should utilize their brand strategy to maximize their impact on the community.    ESP’s model is the product of more than 25 years of client-side and agency CEO, COO and CMO leadership and learnings from our team.   Prior to founding ESP, Tom Etling was Chief Strategy Officer for Paradigm and previously created the marketing advisory practice at Brown Smith Wallace (now Armanino). From 2015 to 2020, Tom served as Chief Executive Officer and Partner at Dovetail, a St. Louis-based brand communications agency. There, he led brand strategy, stakeholder engagement and issues management for clients in diverse industries such as: healthcare, higher education, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, public sector, tourism and more.   Prior to joining Dovetail, Tom was Chief Executive Officer for St. Patrick Center, one of the country’s leading advocates for ending homelessness. Tom led the creation and implementation of a regional plan that balanced innovative solutions with long-term financial viability.
