In March 2024, Beyond Type 1 fielded two surveys commissioned by Sanofi: one among 1,000 adults in the U.S. living with type 1 diabetes, and another among 1,000 adults in the U.S. who serve as primary caregivers to children under the age of 18 with type 1 diabetes. Our goal with both audiences was to measure two things: 1. The impacts of a T1D diagnosis on a person’s emotional, social, and financial health 2. Whether early detection via autoantibody screening may have helped to mitigate those impacts These findings allow us to share the story of our diabetes community; putting a spotlight on the social, emotional, physical, and financial impact of a T1D diagnosis. Last week I was honored to represent Beyond Type 1 in Washington D.C. to share some of our findings on an incredibly esteemed panel of diabetes community members and caregivers including USHER, Senior NFL Insider at ESPN, Adam Schefter, and VP/Head Instructor at Peloton, Robin Arzón, facilitated by Senior Director, US Media Relations, Evan Berland. What an incredible day of advocacy and impact. Our diabetes community members had the opportunity to share their story with the hope of increasing access to T1D screenings universally. This effort will save lives, and I am very proud to be a part of this massive effort.
