President & Founder of deepSEE Consulting | DEI Expert | Nationally Known Speaker | Bestselling Author | Cultural Competence Thought Leader
We know that as individuals, we need to slow down to catch up to the speed of bias. The same is true for groups and organizations. Bias leading to inequities happens quickly. Checking our Filters to create equity takes time. In addition to slowing down, we need to reduce the vacuum of identity-based experience and instead enlist as many perspectives as reasonably possible. Put those two together, and in an ideal situation, we have a group that has developed to the latter stages of cultural competence, that intentionally walks through a process to more thoroughly review decisions, policies, practices, and more. To guide those groups, I developed an Equity Framework. Its goal is to produce the most equitable outcome possible in any given scenario. It realistically embraces continued institutional and structural changes of policies and programming while emphasizing underrepresented groups. The framework is outlined in my upcoming book, “Thinking at the Speed of Bias.” It’s the source every organization needs to scale up cultural competence to transform their structures and systems. → https://hubs.la/Q02CdhVd0 #SpeedOfBias #BookLaunch #OrganizationalDevelopment

📣 Calling all youth, young professionals, and youth-focused professionals! Want to shape the future of youth leadership? Let's co-create a Center for Rising Generations at The Aspen Institute that's on the cutting edge of problem-solving, collaboration, civic engagement, innovation, and more. 👉🏼 Share your ideas by filling out this survey today! https://lnkd.in/gBq7DjYN Announced in 2024 with an official launch in 2025, the Center for Rising Generations is dedicated to ensuring that civil dialogue, civic engagement, and leadership development become a predictable part of the journey to adulthood in our society and around the world. With the dedicated and passionate leadership of Amy Glassman, MAMC and Kaya Henderson , I know this new center will be designed with the youth and for the youth, with an intersectional and intergenerational approach. This new center will support youth working on not just climate, but an array of social impact areas and I’m excited we get to have a say in their strategy. Don’t miss your chance to voice your opinions to ears that are very eager to listen. Trust me, this survey is worth your time because I know the readers personally, and they are the real deal when it comes to meaningful youth participation. #participatorydesign #ProblemSolving #CivicEngagement #CommunityImpact #climateaction #youthengagement

I aspire to build and be part of diverse teams and to create data-driven solutions for a better future.
Young people are all lazy and don't want to work anymore... I'm sick of hearing this dead-beat argument all over, again and again. This talk is one of the most well curated and thought-out arguments against this thesis, which is used in so many conversations when it comes to the generation discussions. Seeing the hard truths and facts about the economic and social disparities between generations is crucial for fostering understanding and empathy. Painting an entire generation with a broad brushstroke overlooks the complexities and nuances that shape individuals' circumstances. It's essential to recognize the systemic barriers the freshman and graduats encounter. Rising education costs, rising cost of living and a shifting economic landscape present formidable obstacles. Moreover, the pandemic has exacerbated these issues, widening the gap between the older and younger generations. Conversely, older generations often contend with their own set of challenges, including age discrimination in the workplace and navigating technological advancements. However, they benefit from decades of experience, established networks, and, in many cases, financial stability that younger individuals may lack. Rather than perpetuating stereotypes, let's foster intergenerational dialogue and collaboration. By acknowledging each other's experiences and perspectives, we can work towards a more equitable future for all generations. Let's strive to build bridges, not barriers, and create opportunities for mutual growth and understanding. 🔑 One key notion to tackle this issue in my opinion is the accessability to high quality education for everyone, without any entry conditions. Only by enabling people for building a better future together, is it possible that we can all work together and pull at the same end of the rope.

Our programs focus on developing solutions to problems, improvements, innovations, and efficiencies. We offer five types of groups: Action, Expert, Study, Support, and Local. Each of these groups is framed by a charter, which is negotiated and agreed to by the Group’s members. This charter helps keep the group engaged and focused on the charter outcomes. https://bit.ly/4bskTfZ #CivilDiscourse #IntellectualEngagement #PublicSquareAcademy #EducationalDialogue #CriticalThinking #CivicEducation #IntellectualCommunity #EducationalLeadership #ThoughtfulConversation #CulturalUnderstanding #SocialJustice #AcademicDiscourse #DiversePerspectives #GlobalCitizenship #EducationalEmpowerment #InformedCitizenry #OpenMinds #DialogueAcrossDivides #EmpathyInAction #LearningForAll

My thoughts on research, equity & storytelling at #WHYouthSummit24: Research should be done with and for youth/communities, and not “on” them. We need to push harder to understand how research can honor and uplift the strengths and assets that young people possess, and push back against deficit- and damage-centered narratives. Storytellers have power. Young people need to be included in how research gets interpreted and shared out, so that they have power in shaping the stories that emerge.
