My book, So You're a Vet Now What has an entire chapter on the subject of death. I felt like it was essential for two reasons. Number one, it’s a big deal for a pet owner to have their pet euthanized and number two, it’s a big deal for you, as a veterinarian, to do it. When considering removing barriers to participation in #veterinarycareers, we must consider the social as well as the financial and practical challenges that might exist, including (e.g.) societal discourses about who the profession is presumed to be ‘for’.
