Recruitment is a lot like pitching for a big event project. There’s a ton of work, stress, and passion involved. You pour your heart and soul into it, hoping for that big win. But sometimes, despite your best efforts, it all falls through. For us, no placement equals no payment. Just like those pitching for an event, it means no revenue. It’s tough, and it can really affect your confidence and motivation, especially after working so hard. I hate it when a job falls through, a candidate is unhappy, or someone doesn’t get the job they truly wanted. It affects me deeply. I go through the journey with my clients and candidates, and when things go wrong, it’s hard not to feel it. The past two years have been particularly tough, to the point where I’ve contemplated a career change myself. Yet, here I am, still in the game, driven by my love for this wild ride. What keeps me going? It’s the people, the conversations, the connections. The sheer joy of a candidate securing their dream job is priceless, and even if those moments aren’t as frequent as I’d like at the moment, they keep me moving forward. A lot of the time, I see job seekers getting into panic mode and feeling overwhelmed with their job search. 🚀 From Disappointment to Road to Success 🚀 A little over 9 months ago, I poured my heart into a series of interviews for a dream Business Development role at a major telecom giant in Canada. Despite the setback of not landing that position after weeks of interviews, the very next day, I had an interview with an R&D Company’s Digital Display Division—something completely new to me. Still disheartened, I barely prepped for it. But thanks to my natural skills and experience in different industries, I landed the role. The beginning of the journey at my current role was no walk in the park either! I underwent an extended training period, learning about a complex product and industry, dealing with lengthy sales cycles, collaborating with multiple parties for each project, and navigating local bylaws, rules, and regulations. It was a tough start, taking me 4 months to close my first deal. Fast forward 5 months, and I'm thrilled to share that I've officially closed my first 6-figure deal! In this time, I've brought in $464k+ in revenue, outpacing everyone at the company except the GM himself. Why share this? Not to brag, but to inspire. It's a reminder that life's rejections can lead to unexpected triumphs. If a door closes, don't dwell—find the next one.
