Is Swedish a requirement for working in Sweden? Beyondo, recruitment had the pleasure of joining a panel discussion hosted by Nimmersion AB (formerly Newcomer's) this morning, where we shared our experiences and views on the topic 'Is Swedish needed in the workplace in Sweden'. Alongside Rebecca Kågesjö at SweTeach and Annica Nilsson at @pratapakonsult we explored if and why learning Swedish can be essential for work and how employers can better embrace international talents who do not speak the language - yet. The fact is, for some positions and industries, knowledge of Swedish seems to be essential for many organizations in Sweden. In these sectors, how can we ensure we still hire the necessary expertise, even if candidates don’t speak Swedish yet? And how do we make sure these talents stay in Sweden long-term? Suggestions and takeaways were: 💛 offering Swedish lessons before relocating to Sweden to help integration. 💛 coaching the organisation and Swedish-speaking employees to support non-native speakers learning the language. Inclusion is important! 💛 Reevaluating whether Swedish is a hard requirement for a role when the candidate has strong skills but is not fluent in Swedish - yet. We are grateful for all participants tuning in and let us continue the conversation on creating inclusive workplaces for international talent! Thank you Lena Rekdal and Nimmersion AB (formerly Newcomer's) for hosting this session! 💛 I am curious to hear your experience on the topic! Please share your experience and insights with us - so we all can learn and create an even more welcoming environment for international talents who wish to contribute to Sweden. #recruitment #learningswedish #diversityinclusion
