The Power of Aligning Purpose with Action
On Monday I had the chance to partner with The Ideal Life in support of a new non-profit in Charleston, Shared City. Connect and Equip - that's their mantra, and it's fundamentally who they are and how they operate. Kristin and Holly are two amazing people who are already making an impact. Excited to see where they go when applying the "I GOT This" framework. I'm just happy I got to be a small part of the journey. Thanks Lindsey Ballenger for getting it organized and for all the support!

Last week I attended this fascinating webinar from Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE) which shared research on how effective we can be in reaching Gen Z (& varying generational audiences) with our language and messaging. A few takeaways to keep in mind for our impact-storytelling work moving forward: ✨ The word "freedom" is equally motivating for younger & older generations. ✨ "Community" (helping others) strongly resonates across generations. ✨ "Bridging" and "Bipartisanship" are the lowest ranking civic terms for Gen Z. As one of the presenters noted, “Perhaps the fact that there are limited examples of bipartisanship and bridging prevents a conception and understanding of the term.” 👏🏻 Challenge accepted!
WEBINAR TODAY: Join over 100+ funder and non-profit leaders at 2pm ET to explore how Gen Z perceives civic language. Here's a sneak peek: PACE found that Gen Z is more likely than other generations to think that equity-focused civic terms bring people together. Register here: https://lnkd.in/emU9wsuY

As the school year wraps up, we're proud to highlight a key aspect of our community impact initiatives. One of our focus areas is supporting local students in need through CapCityKids , a non-profit organization sponsored by The Amherst Foundation. To date, our teams have filled over 18,000 backpacks with school supplies such as notebooks, markers, folders, rulers, and more, ensuring students start their school year on the right foot. Do those of you involved with non-profit boards use end-of-year metrics to measure performance and guide your work in the next year? At the Fayetteville Public Library Foundation, we get feedback from our board members via private survey and use that data to seek improvement. An example of one of our metrics is this: Board members share a common understanding of where the organization wants to be in 3-5 years; the vision is well documented with concrete goals. What would you do to begin work on clarifying and establishing those concrete goals?
