This is an Official GMAT question. Difficulty level: 705 Let's discuss: Step-by-Step Analysis: 1. Identify the Key Points in the Premises: > A successful embargo requires both international accord and the ability to prevent goods from entering or leaving the country. > A total blockade is necessary but could cause international discord. 2. Understand the Implications: The first point implies that both international agreement and physical enforcement (like a blockade) are critical to a successful embargo. The second point introduces a potential problem: while a blockade is necessary, it might cause disagreements among the international community, which could threaten the required international accord. 3. Eliminate Irrelevant or Incorrect Choices: Option A: Talks about favoring Patria, which is not directly supported by the premises. Option C: States that a naval blockade would ensure no goods enter or leave. However, this option doesn't address the issue of international discord, which is crucial according to the passage. Option E: Suggests that for a blockade to succeed, international opinion must be unanimous. This isn’t directly supported by the premises since the passage doesn't state that unanimity is required; rather, it talks about the need for international accord. 4. Focus on the Critical Points: Option B: "As long as international opinion is unanimously against Patria, a trade embargo is likely to succeed." This option is tempting but the passage doesn't mention unanimity; it only mentions the need for a general accord, so this option is not entirely accurate. Option D: "Any trade embargo against Patria would be likely to fail at some time." This option is supported by the second premise. Since the blockade, which is necessary for the embargo, is likely to cause international discord, and international accord is required for the embargo to succeed, it is reasonable to conclude that any trade embargo against Patria is likely to face challenges and potentially fail due to this discord. So, D is the correct answer. #criticalreasoning #gmat #verbal #gmatverbal #gmatquant #gmatpreparation #gmatpreparationonline #gmatexam #gmatquestion #mbaprep #mbaadmissions #mbaapplication #admissionconsulting #sop #essayediting #mbaschools #bschool #studyabroad

The relationship between student participation and students’ self-perceived action competence for sustainability in a whole school approach | Open Access Ane Eir Torsdottir, Daniel Olsson, Astrid Tonette Sinnes & Arjen Wals Pages: 1-19 | DOI: 10.1080/13504622.2024.2326462 Abstract This study examines the relation between student experiences of participation in a whole school approach (WSA) and students’ self-perceived action competence. We surveyed 902 students in three Norwegian upper-secondary schools participating in an education for sustainable development (ESD) programme. The questionnaire measured students’ experiences in decision-making and influencing within a WSA, containing the components: (1) school and leadership, (2) teaching and learning, (3) community connections and (4) student council. We measured students’ self-perceived action competence through: (1) knowledge of action possibilities, (2) confidence in one’s own influence and (3) willingness to act. A structural equation model indicates a positive relation between student participation in ESD teaching and learning and students’ knowledge of action possibilities and confidence in their own influence. Participation through the student council positively related to all action competence components. We found no significant relation between participation in school and leadership or community connections on any action competence factors. It is important to note that this cross-sectional study with a limited number of schools does not establish causality, necessitating further research. Nevertheless, the results suggest that promoting student participation in teaching and learning and facilitating a well-functioning student council can promote students’ development of action competence for sustainability. #studentparticipation #educationforsustainabledevelopment #wholeschoolapproach #actioncompetence #SDG4 #qualityeducation https://lnkd.in/g4mTzSWG

Senior Lecturer, Civil Engineering Department, Enugu State University of Science and Technology. COREN-R, MNSE, MASCE, MNIEE
#MyDocumentaryOnSSETS It's been 8 weeks of intensive and impactful training and I share with you all I achieved these past weeks. 1. I activated my LinkedIn account which has been dormant for a long time and improved on my connections. 2. On a weekly basis, I have updated this space with my activities #MyBeforeAndAfterWithSSETS. 3. I connected with academics from other disciplines and other countries which has helped me grow my network and position me for multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving ideologies. 4. I invited an industry guest lecturer during one of my classes for my students, to enhance their employability and try to bridge the gap between classroom and industry #ImpactingMyStudentsOnSSET, it was really educative. 5. My passion for #GirlChildEducation and #GenderEquality got a boost during this program because I am better equipped on how to seek and get funding in this regard. We were asked to state and grow a passion or community project within or outside our core discipline. 6. I formed a 5-member money crew #MyMoneyCrewOnSSETS with academics from other disciplines and we developed a multidisciplinary #ConceptNote on #GenderEquality in line with UN SDG 5. 7. I prepared a #MoneyExcelSpreadSheet of top 10 #InternationalFunders in my research area, which I intend to monitor to keep me updated on funding calls. 8. I connected with a Professor in China whom I have used and referenced his works, for partnership and collaboration for future works. He responded positively to my email. 9. I prepared a #TrainingBrief on #AddressingChallengesOfSolidWasteManagement and I presented a one day professional training to a group of people #TrainingForImpactOnSSETS. In all, there are so many things to talk because the program was resourceful, but let me stop here for now. I will continually improve on my current status bearing in mind that those 8 weeks of intensive training has transformed me completely towards being an #EntrepreneurialAcademic. How can I forget to say that I was among the list of top 10 participants for week 5 and 6? It was the best moment of the program. My special appreciation to Dr. Akanimo Odon and Dr Viola Akhigbe for coaching me well, and to my University lead Chike Anibeze for assistance always. I am indebted to to the sponsors of the program Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Lancaster University, British Council, National Universities Commission (NUC) and my University Enugu State University of Science and Technology for nominating me for this program.
