A study by the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics and USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences reveals that while 19% of hospitals offer medical payment products (MPPs), only 8.5% promote interest-bearing options, predominantly having high uncompensated care rates. This research, published in JAMA Health Forum, highlights the need for regulators to consider the financial conditions of hospitals using MPPs before implementing new policies.
