BEL has received the Silver award in the "Implementation (Digitisation) of Employee Self-Service" category in the Economic Times PSU Leadership & Excellence Awards 2024. On behalf of BEL, the award was received by Mrs Prabha Goyal, GM (National Marketing), Mr Eswara Rao, AGM (IS), and Mr Arun, DGM (IS), from Mr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, at the ET Government PSU Summit 2024 yesterday at New Delhi. Mr Manoj Jain, CMD, BEL, spoke at the Summit on indigenisation and self-reliance in defence.

Mr Manoj Jain takes charge as Chairman & Managing Director of BEL Mr Manoj Jain took charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on June 20, 2024. He was Director (R&D) since September 26, 2022, and was also assigned with the additional charge of Director (Bangalore Complex) from August 1, 2023. Mr Manoj Jain was also assigned additional charge of Director (HR) from November 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023. He was General Manager of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL's Bangalore Complex prior to his elevation as Director (R&D). Mr Manoj Jain joined BEL in August 1991 as Probationary Engineer after completing his BE (Electronics) from REC Jaipur (MNIT) with Gold medal. In an illustrious career spanning over three decades, he has made significant contributions to the field of Research & Development. During his initial years in D&E at BEL’s Kotdwara Unit, Mr Manoj Jain played a pivotal role in the development of Digital Multiplexers, Cross Connects, CDOT Exchanges and Military Switches. In 1999, he moved to BEL's Central Research Laboratory in Bangalore and was engaged in the development of technologies for Defence Networks and Network & Bulk Security Solutions. In the area of Radar, one of BEL's core businesses, he was involved in the development of VeXT, Scan Converter and Display using FPGA. Mr Manoj Jain served as Chief Scientist of CRL-Bangalore from December 2017 to May 2019, overseeing technological developments in all technical areas. He took over as General Manager of BEL's Product Development & Innovation Centre (PD&IC) in June 2019. During his two-year stint here, PD&IC developed many new products/sub-systems required for BEL, thus ensuring innovation and value addition, leading to self-reliance. Mr Manoj Jain took over as the General Manager and Head of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL-Bangalore, in June 2021. Apart from overseeing all the business operations of the SBU, he provided the much-needed vision for this business vertical. Mr Manoj Jain has received various R&D awards, Key Contributor Awards, Raksha Mantri's Award and SODET Awards. He has published many technical papers, applied for several patents and delivered talks to Defence users and DRDO scientists.

BEL partnered with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bangalore, to redesign and modernise its uniforms for both male and female employees. This update, the first in 37 years, aims to present to the world a modern and professional image of BEL, evolving with the times while maintaining its core values and identity. The initiative reflects BEL's commitment to aligning its corporate image with future-oriented strategies.

BEL has won the prestigious 'Climate Action Champion Award' at the Outlook Planet Sustainability Summit & Awards 2024. The award celebrates the outstanding contributions made by BEL towards sustainability. Mr Sanjay Agarwal, GM (CS)/CO, and Mr Sanjeev Deshpande, Sr DGM (CC), received the award on behalf of BEL from Mr V Srinivas, IAS, Special Secretary, Department of Administrative Reform and Public Grievances, at the awards ceremony held today in Goa.

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a Turnover of Rs.19,819.93 Crore, registering a growth of 14.35% during FY 2023-24 over the Turnover of Rs.17,333.37 Crore recorded during the previous year. During the 4th Quarter of FY 2023-24, BEL achieved a Turnover of Rs.8,335.01 Crore as against Rs. 6,327.48 Crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year. Profit Before Tax (PBT) during FY 2023-24 stood at Rs.5,334.56 Crore, with a growth of 33.87% over the Profit Before Tax (PBT) of Rs.3,984.88 Crore recorded during the previous year. During the 4thQuarter of FY 2023-24, Profit Before Tax (PBT) has increased to Rs.2,385.61 Crore from Rs.1,781.49 Crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year. Profit After Tax (PAT) during FY 2023-24 stood at Rs.4,020.00 Crore, with a growth of 33.70% over the Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs.3,006.67 Crore recorded during the previous year. During the 4th Quarter of FY 2023-24, Profit After Tax (PAT) has increased to Rs.1,783.52 Crore from Rs.1,365.36 Crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year. The order book position of the company as on 1st April, 2024, stood at Rs.7,5934 Crore. The Board of Directors at its meeting held today recommended a Final Dividend of Rs.0.80 per Equity share (having a face value of Rs.1/- each) and the same is subject to the approval by the Shareholders in the ensuing Annual General Meeting of the Company.

CRL-Ghaziabad celebrates National Technology Day with Hackathon Dr. BK Das, DG (ECS), today inaugurated the 2-day Hackathon event, titled "GYAAN UDAY", being held at BEL Central Research Laboratory-Ghaziabad as part of National Technology Day celebrations. Sh. Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, CMD, Sh. Manoj Jain, Director (R&D), CS-CRL , GM (PDIC), CTO, GMs and R&D engineers from other Units and development centers were present at the inaugural function. The National Technology Day celebrations featured a wide range of activities, including keynote speeches and panel discussions on a variety of topics including solutions for advanced computing problems. Participants got the chance to explore emerging technologies, learn from industry experts and gain valuable insights into the future of technology. The indigenously designed and developed 'Drone with Human Brain' with advanced computing and cognitive solution, and also the 'Trinetra-Command Theatre System' for all three forces (for joint operations) were demonstrated at the event.
