The efficient scaling of #driverless fleets continues to be a subject of interest for companies and research organizations. Oregon State University has shown that a “swarm” of more than 100 autonomous ground and aerial robots can be supervised by one person without subjecting the individual to an undue workload. It’s important to note that supervision in this case most likely means functional monitoring only (for more on different levels of remote operation and their relation to safety check out DriveU.auto's Teleoperation Taxonomy, linked in the comments). Also of note is the focus on supervisors’ workload. 𝗥𝗧𝘀𝘆𝘀 distinguished for the #CARMA project 🏆👏 Along with Exail and ABYSSA SAS, the 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐔𝐕𝐬 aims at mapping the deep seabed using an autonomous master vehicle and a full set of #follower_vehicles in the name of....𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗧-𝟯𝟬𝟬𝟬 🚀 💡 The three industrial partners will demonstrate the efficiency of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (#AUVs) operating in swarm at 3,000 meters for the exploration of large areas.
