To aid in the #prevention of eating disorders and body dissatisfaction, there is a need to change the way that society broadly speaks about health, food, minds and bodies. 💬 The National Eating Disorders Collaboration, in collaboration with La Trobe University, people with lived experience and their families, carers and supports, have developed a set of principles that will guide the ways that information about health, food, minds and body are provided to people across settings. The “Eating Disorder Safe Principles” will be launched on Wednesday 24 July, 12:00 - 1:00pm AEST, with a special webinar exploring the principles in-depth along with the Companion Document, ‘First Nations Perspectives: Strengthening the Eating Disorder Safe Principles.’ 🔗 Register for the launch and find further info below ⬇️ https://bit.ly/NEDCedSafe

What time is it, do you ask?? It's #FactSheetFridays!✨ Today, we will provide a quick overview of the five main levels of care for #eatingdisorders and links to resources to find the best treatment for you or your loved one! We know firsthand how overwhelming gathering information can be while trying to figure out what kind of #eatingdisorder care is needed and who or where to even reach out to. We wanted to, at the very least, try to simplify that process with a one-page fact sheet that breaks down and quickly overviews the five main levels of care: their purpose, target, duration and the pros + cons that exist for each. We also wanted to very much highlight an important reminder: ALWAYS ensure that your treatment team is certified in eating disorders. This is key!❤️ As always, don't ever hesitate to reach out to us at mindblossom.org (or through our various social media channels) and make sure to come back Fridays for upcoming fact sheets! #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters

Neuroscientist I Mental Health Educator I Biosensor Expert I Strategic Thinker I Consultant I Bookworm
We have received many requests for our #eatingdisorder fact sheets that we developed as a part of our course on How To Navigate Eating Disorders. This one focuses on the #levelsofcare. Figuring out what care is right for you can be a really daunting process and it’s difficult to know where to start. As a #protip, unless medically unstable, #outpatient treatment (eg seeing a therapist once or twice a week) is usually the best place to start. If that care isn’t sufficient, you start moving up the levels. The MOST important thing to keep in mind: find a therapist who’s trained on eating disorder care. Training on eating disorders is typically not a part of standard therapist (or doctor, psychiatrist, dietician ….) education. It’s therefore critical to check that they took extra steps to #educate themselves. Do you reside in a country or area where there are no #eatingdisordertherapists available (a much more common issue than most people appreciate)? Then a great first step can be to find an #eatingdisordercoach. While they cannot provide therapy or medical support, they can help you navigate the system and support you in your process of #healing. I wish I had had a #coach like that! This #factsheet also provides resources and tips on who to contact and where to find more information. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Mind Blossom. We are ready to guide you in the right direction by relying on our vast network of #experts. To everyone who’s currently exploring or in the process of supporting yourself or someone you know through #eatingdisordercare: #youarenotalone, there is #hope. Remember that almost half of everyone with eating disorders recover completely. #recoveryispossible. We believe in you.

Supporting parents who have a child with an eating disorder. Wellbeing Expert. Making a difference to the mental and emotional wellbeing of individuals and teams.
The statistics on young people developing eating disorders are scary. We can easily point fingers at all media (social, TV, written), but it runs way deeper than that. When I trained as a Body Project facilitator, I was shocked by my own thoughts, beliefs and speaking even though I have spent years in the world of eating disorders. I hadn’t realised quite how ingrained society's anti-fat and pro-body ideals run. As parents, we can help protect our children from ‘Body Ideal’ standards by becoming aware of our own thoughts and language. I dream of a world where we can all be valued for who we are, not what we look like, so I am excited to deliver a Body Project Course for Parents. You will learn how the body ideal shows up, understand its impact, and how you can reject it for yourself and your family. It's an hour a week for four weeks, starting Wednesday, September 8th, at 7:30 p.m. I only have eight places, so book yours using the link below or DM me any questions. https://py.pl/1KA9fI #helpwitheatingdisorder #eatingdisorders #eatingdisorderrecovery
