To aid in the #prevention of eating disorders and body dissatisfaction, there is a need to change the way that society broadly speaks about health, food, minds and bodies. 💬 The National Eating Disorders Collaboration, in collaboration with La Trobe University, people with lived experience and their families, carers and supports, have developed a set of principles that will guide the ways that information about health, food, minds and body are provided to people across settings. The “Eating Disorder Safe Principles” will be launched on Wednesday 24 July, 12:00 - 1:00pm AEST, with a special webinar exploring the principles in-depth along with the Companion Document, ‘First Nations Perspectives: Strengthening the Eating Disorder Safe Principles.’ 🔗 Register for the launch and find further info below ⬇️ https://bit.ly/NEDCedSafe

As we conclude Eating Disorders Awareness Week, let's highlight a critical message 🌟 Eating disorders are not just challenges of the mind and body; they pose serious risks, including the potential for suicide and severe medical complications. Yet, amidst these stark realities, there's hope. Full recovery from an ED is achievable, and early detection and intervention are key. The need for more research is undeniable, especially among diverse and higher-risk groups, including BIPOC individuals and people across different age groups. Our understanding is evolving, but so must our efforts in advocacy, support, and education. This awareness week is just the beginning. Let’s continue the conversation, spread knowledge, and offer hope. If you or someone you know is struggling, remember that life doesn’t have to be this way. Help is available, and recovery is possible. Though EDAW ends today, our commitment to education and support does not. Let’s keep the momentum going, reduce risks, and make sure everyone has access to the support they need. Together, we can make a difference 💚 #EDAW #EatingDisorders #EarlyDetection
