Fractured scaphoid: do we immobilize the thumb or not? The treatment of simple and compound scaphoid fractures remains a highly debated topic. What should be done? What is the best treatment? This Swedish article by Dr. Clementson provides clarity! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dkbgxJKC When conservative treatment is advised, it is advisable to immobilize the thumb ONLY in the case of an intra-articular fracture of the distal pole with a displacement of less than 1.5mm! In all other cases, we recommend conservative treatment with a standard short-arm cast without thumb immobilization, which, besides comfort, improves patients’ hand function as it allows thumb opposition and thereby enhances pinch grip. In our field, definitive answers are rarely found! Each case must be evaluated individually, and the patient treated in a personalized manner.

Ablations are associated with all kinds of risk in the EP lab. From perforation to collateral damage to the AV conduction system. However, these adverse outcomes can be significantly reduced when you have both a fundamental understanding of the correct mapping techniques and can quickly recognise signs for immediate termination of ablation. CEPIA teaches you both how correctly identify the targets for ablation and also recognise the signs to cease ablation. Enrol now to help improve patient outcomes and success.
