This year, the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) Summer Conference is focused on “Financing the Future – Using Green Finance to Drive Nature’s Recovery.” 🍃 Binnies’ Fran Moore and Laura Hobbs will give an overview of their work supporting Nature North in developing four of their ‘investable concepts’, and insights from the nature finance and investment landscape. Nature North is a collaboration of organisations across the North of England working to drive climate resilience and green growth through nature recovery. “Mayflies on the move: The nuisance with an ecological benefit” ICYMI, Dr. Bill Hintz, associate professor in The University of Toledo's Department of Environmental Science, spoke with WTOL11 News about the important role mayflies play in the health of our water. He says part of this importance is due to the direct connection that the land and lake have. "So what we call this in ecology or environmental science is an aquatic-terrestrial linkage," Hintz said. "And so, everything in the water is linked to the land, and the land is linked to the water." Which means mayflies tell a larger story. "This mayfly hatch can be an indicator of how healthy those connections are in the terrestrial and the aquatic environment in Lake Erie," said Hintz. As a growth company in so many ways, Greenbelt supports continuous development and upskilling, as shown by #Landscape Estimator Amal Biju taking part in Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)'s early careers #training programme. This involves #biodiversity-focused areas, from #ecological appraisals and #habitat mapping to professional ethics and legislative awareness. Amal notes: “This programme will provide me with in-depth knowledge into biodiversity within new development. #Ecology, evolution and behaviour are key elements of the natural world – improving our knowledge of these is vital in mitigating #climate change.”

WA state has its first-ever Climate Resilience Strategy! Ecology is seeking feedback through July 11. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gfbEuzJz #climate #resilience #climateaction #climatechange
The Department of Ecology is currently seeking feedback on Washington's first Climate Resilience Strategy! The strategy outlines what state agencies can do within their existing authorities to better prepare communities, infrastructure, and natural and working lands across the state for the impacts of climate change. Cascadia is proud to be supporting this project in partnership with the Climate Impacts Group at the University of Washington. We're excited to hear from the community about how state agencies can best support them. The Department of Ecology is gathering public comment now through July 11 and is hosting three listening sessions: Thursday, June 20, 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 26, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. See the draft plan and provide feedback here: https://lnkd.in/dBEHrh7y

To achieve the Clean Water Act's goals, we need to prioritize upstream ecology first. Restoring the aquatic health of our smallest waterways should be a prerequisite for restoring larger rivers, lakes, and bays downstream. Read our featured story in American Water Resources Association's Water Resources IMPACT magazine. Stroud Water Research Center's transdisciplinary team brings a new perspective on the nation's freshwater ecosystems: Dave Arscott, Melinda Daniels, Charles Dow, John Jackson, Diana Oviedo Vargas, and Marc Peipoch. https://lnkd.in/eHrbhgD6

It’s nice to see that, a companies are trying to avoid any ecological harm from their projects specially in a projects like #offshore wind farms, which requires large area to generate meaningful power and most of these farms are located far from human inhabited places. We should always keep in mind that we are transitioning our power industries to save our environment and whenever I say environmental its included all the living and and non living things available at our planet and we should try our best to avoid any ecological damage by projects. Every projects of #ScottishPower amazed me specially #Whitelee offshore wind farm, which is the largest offshore wind farm of the UK . It covers a very large area but the teams of #ScottishPower trying there best to keep the natural inhabitants of species living there undisturbed. We should always remember that, we are transitioning our energy from non renewables to save the environment and its species not for just financial profit, that’s why every company should take care of environment like #ScottishPower #whitelee offshore wind farm. #SaveEnvironment #RenewableEnergy #ScottishPower #WhiteleePower
In addition to increasing the production of clean, green electricity across the country, we’re always focused on how we can support our local communities and protect the natural environment around our developments 💚 We firmly believe the communities living and working around our sites should share in the benefits, and we’ve already shared over £62m in community benefit funding to date to do just that. Over £17m of that has come from our Whitelee windfarm alone – enabling a number of community initiatives and the employment of two dedicated Countryside Rangers based at the site. And Whitelee has also become an ecology research hub, with a particular focus on peatlands which are really important for nature-based solutions to tackling climate change and meeting Net Zero targets 🍃 Check out the video below of Gillian Arnot, our Senior Community & Stakeholder Manager, and Rachel Short, our Ecology Manager, talking about our work in these areas 👇 #MoreThanAWindFarm #WhiteleeWindfarm #CommunityBenefitFunding #Communities #Ecology #PeatlandRestoration
