World Wetlands Day is observed on February 2 to recognize and celebrate the importance of wetlands to the world, and the diversity of life that they support. Wetlands can be very small or very large areas where the land is saturated with water throughout the year. Wetlands are one of the most misunderstood ecosystems. They have a lot of biodiversity, and large numbers of animals, plants, and birds live there. They are also very beneficial, preventing soil erosion and offering protection against flooding, among others. #wetlands #WorldWetlandsDay #WetlandsDay #dolphinpginstitute #dolphinpginstitutedehradun

Happy International Day for Biological Diversity!! 🐅🌿 🐠🦜🌊. This day highlights the important role biodiversity plays in our well-being. When biodiversity has a problem, humanity has a problem. As a Rainforest Alliance Certification holder, JB Cocoa is committed to being #PartOfThePlan in protecting wildlife and biodiversity. Through our Good Environmental Practices training, cocoa farmers are taught not to hunt threatened animals, ensuring they neither hold wildlife in captivity nor introduce invasive species. Additionally, fire is not used for preparing or cleaning fields, among other practices. We have participated in the World Cocoa Foundation’s Cocoa and Forest Initiative to promote forest protection and on-farm restoration through mixed agroforestry. https://lnkd.in/efX5CMn

💧 Wetlands are rich in biodiversity, essential for both humans and the broader natural world. ⚠️ Sadly, 25% of wetland species are on the brink of extinction. 🌿 Each species has a crucial role, and losing one can disrupt the entire ecosystem. 🐢 Wetland species like the Spotted Pond Turtle, listed as Endangered by the IUCN, face threats from local and global trade for meat and the exotic pet trade industry, putting its survival at risk. 🌱 Preserving biodiversity isn't just a conservation goal; it's essential for all life to thrive. Discover our efforts to protect wetland reptiles (& others!) from illegal and unsustainable trade, benefiting wetland health. Part One: The Northern Migration 🌱 Over the past decade, mangroves have been steadily migrating north due to a warming environment and fewer cold freezes. This northward movement is transforming traditional salt marsh habitats in significant ways. As mangroves replace salt marshes, it's important to note how that may impact local biodiversity. Understanding these changes is crucial for coastal conservation efforts. At MANG, we’re dedicated to educating and raising awareness about the importance of mangroves in our ecosystems. Join us in learning more about these vital transformations. Every product you purchase plants a mangrove tree, helping to protect and restore our coastal environments. 🌎🌱 #manggear #MANG #mangroves #buyoneplantone

🌴 Forests are natural gifts to mankind and contain the richest biodiversity among terrestrial ecosystems. The unguided activities of man, like farming in and around the forest, bush burning, hunting, illegal logging, etc., are destroying the forest. 🌴 The above activities have numerous negative effects on the environment, including the loss of wildlife habitat, a decline in the ability of the land to store carbon, a rise in heat levels, and greater susceptibility to natural disasters like flooding, etc. 🌴 To preserve our forest, protect our planet, and ensure biodiversity, Okomu is committed to adhering to global best practices such as setting up areas of High Conservation Value and protecting habitats housing endangered species. Chimpanzees are key seed dispersers. Their diverse diet and wandering habits help scatter seeds far and wide, aiding in forest regeneration and supporting biodiversity. Plus, their unique ability to partially digest large seeds enhances the chances of successful germination. Protecting these intelligent creatures means safeguarding the health of our forests and the many species that rely on them.
