Reflecting on the Inspiring VISIONS Meeting in Chicago:
I recently had the privilege of attending the patient-oriented VISIONS meeting in Chicago, sponsored by the @Foundation for Fighting Blindness. This remarkable event brought together patients, caregivers, researchers, and industry leaders, all united by a common goal: to find cures and treatments for blindness.
One of the most impactful moments was hearing from @Sam Latif, Company Accessibility Leader at Proctor & Gamble, who shared her personal journey of living with vision loss. Her story of resilience, determination, and the importance of accessibility was truly inspiring. Sam's experience underscored the necessity of inclusive design and the profound impact it has on improving lives. During the event, I also had the opportunity to meet and interact with patients and caregivers who shared their journeys and the challenges of accessibility in our modern world. Their stories of perseverance and hope were incredibly moving. At the same time, it was clear how keen they all were for innovation--as was the hope they had that science and innovation would someday bring cures.
Being part of this community and witnessing the dedication and collaboration firsthand has reinforced my commitment to advancing our efforts in fighting blindness. As the Global Head of Medical Affairs for Ophthalmics and Rare Disease at @Astellas Pharma, this responsibility is deeply personal and profoundly important to me. Together, we can make a difference and bring sight to those who need it most.
