Did you know, photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an innovative treatment that uses light-sensitive drugs and light to destroy cancer cells. This therapy is minimally invasive and can target specific areas, making it particularly effective for certain types of skin, lung, and esophageal cancers. By activating the photosensitizing agent with a specific wavelength of light, PDT produces reactive oxygen species that kill cancer cells while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. Moreover, photodynamic therapy is also being explored for treating infections and other non-cancerous conditions. Its precision and reduced side effects compared to traditional treatments make it a promising option in the medical field. As research advances, PDT could become a more widely used and effective tool in the fight against various diseases, offering hope for less invasive and more targeted treatment options. 💡 NEW DISCOVERY: CCR researchers report novel KDM inhibitors that suppress the activity of a fusion oncogene PAX3-FOXO1 in fusion-positive rhabdomyosarcoma. The discovery provides a new therapeutic approach for the disease and other transcriptionally-driven cancers. ➡ Read more: https://lnkd.in/eHw4bGyK Rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of sarcoma. Sarcoma is cancer of soft tissue (such as muscle), connective tissue (such as tendon or cartilage), or bone. Rhabdomyosarcoma usually begins in muscles that are attached to bones and that help the body move, but it may begin in many places in the body. Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common type of soft tissue sarcoma in children. Modern cancer care requires a multidisciplinary approach for each patient. Evidence shows that exercise can reduce up to 30% the risk of breast, colon, bladder, endometrial, esophageal, and gastric cancers. Cancer diagnosis and antineoplastic treatments imply a cardiovascular fitness worsening. Aerobic and resistance regular exercise should be recommended for patients undergoing cancer treatment, given that it is related to cardiorespiratory fitness enhancement, along with fatigue and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) improvements. The biological mechanisms whereby exercise interferes with cancer development and progression target all hallmarks of cancer. I recommend reading this new article on oncological physical exercise. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 #cancer #cancercare #oncology #physicalexercise #multidisciplinary

💡 Would you like to know what is Hereditary Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma? HPRC (OMIM#605074, ORPHA:47044) is a #cancer predisposition syndrome associated with the development of bilateral and multifocal type 1 papillary renal cell carcinoma in adults, at an early age (mean age <45). Extra-renal manifestations have not been reported to date. Penetrance is discordant in published reviews. HPRC is a very rare condition, prevalence is unknown and could be estimated as less than 1 in 100,000. ❓ What causes Hereditary Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma? HPRC is caused by a #germline heterozygous pathogenic variant in MET proto-oncogene. All germline MET pathogenic variants reported to date are missense variants in the tyrosine kinase domain which activate MET signalling pathway. 👉 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/d-THCvxQ #ERNGENTURIS #hereditarycancer #raredisease #cancer #tumour #healthcare #healthprofessionals #education #health #knowledge #cancerknowledge

First-in-Human Trial of Anti-MAGEA1 TCR-T Therapy in Advanced Solid Tumours Engineered T cells (IMA202) targeting MAGEA1-positive advanced solid tumours were tested for safety and efficacy in a trial with 16 patients. The trial found no dose-limiting toxicities, though common severe side effects included various cytopenias. Cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity were observed in some patients. The treatment led to stable disease in 68.8% of patients, with some experiencing tumour shrinkage. IMA202 cells persisted in blood and tumours, especially at higher doses. Overall, IMA202 showed a manageable safety profile and potential clinical activity in this challenging patient group. The link to the original article is in the comments. Increasing intake of certain fiber-type prebiotics may have a modest impact on the risk of breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. Specifically, higher intake of nystose was marginally associated with increased risks, while 1F-β-fructofuranosylnystose showed an inverse association with ovarian cancer risk. However, most fiber-type prebiotics did not show consistent associations with these cancers. #fiberprebiotics #womenshealth #breastcancer #gutmicrobiota #biohacking Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ePEb-NDC BioMedHack.com is your leading source for the latest news, breakthroughs, and insights in medicine, biohacking, and alternative medicine. 🚨 Exciting #newresearch alert! This new study published in Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases assesses the clinical utility of Prolaris genomic testing on active surveillance and durability in intermediate-risk #prostatecancer patients. The results show: 🔵 Prolaris testing increased active surveillance uptake, with active surveillance selected twice as often when recommended by the test and, 🔵 Patients are more likely to remain on active surveillance at 3 years after diagnosis than patients recommended to definitive therapy. These findings suggest that Prolaris provides valuable personalized risk information, improving treatment decision-making and long-term management for prostate cancer.
