Do you have a no D!£%head policy? Turns out it’s good for business. Yesterday I had the privilege of listening to the Chair of the Welsh Rugby Union Richard Collier-Keywood talk eloquently about the important Welsh cultural asset he is now responsible for and the need for it to serve all stakeholders i.e. benefit society beyond the bottom line. In business it’s known as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) which emerged as a concept in the 1960s. Back then it was seen as an altruistic means of doing more with a business than just making money, but it was assumed it would involve sacrificing profit to achieve it. The growing evidence shows this is not the case. Being environmentally responsible, inclusive and serving of all stakeholders (customers, employees, investors, the environment and wider society) builds a strong brand, customer engagement, profit and also investment opportunities. The All Blacks have an NDH (No D!£%head) policy. They clean their own dressing rooms, carry their own bags and essentially show humility, accountability and a recognition of all the stakeholders in their organisation. For me, corporate social responsibility boils down to common sense, respect and humility. It’s good to see those leading our national game going forward aspire to the same ethos. And at a time of such high attrition in business in general, would it not be best to have a smart business model that ensures that everyone in the eco system is incentivised to see the venture succeed?

Another great Cardiff Business Club event today where we heard from the insightful Richard Collier-Keywood about the past, present and future of the WRU. Thanks as always to Paul Thorburn and rounding off the sporting connections, great to meet Debra Michelle Williams and Graham Thomas !

🗣 Speaker Spotlight: Panel discussion with Owen Brown from Millrace | B Corp™ and Rhian Iolo Brewster from WWF-UK. Last year, a lot of attendees said it would be great to have a session focusing on how to make the most of limited budgets, so here we go... A session all about making every penny count. This will be extremely relevant to so many attendees this year and is going to be a session packed full to the brim with takeaways that you can implement in your own work. 💡 📆 26 September 📍 Swansea Arena #SMCCymru24

Meet The Association Partner (TAP), a 13th Annual GrowFL #FLCTW Honoree! 🏆 TAP propels trade associations and professional societies Upward, Onward, and Forward, by helping them solve extremely complex challenges such as declining membership numbers, declining membership participation across important events and programs, and declining sponsorship revenue. Brian Donohoe, CEO, says his advice for fellow business owners is, "Put the ‘Person’ before the ‘Pitch’ and the ‘Power’ before the ‘Product.' No person will care about what your business has to “Pitch” to the industry, marketplace, or economy in general, if you cannot first establish trust and rapport with the “Person” that you’re trying to enroll in your ideas… Relationships come before revenue, and revenue only grows if you keep your relationships right!" Continue reading here: https://lnkd.in/eN597_JU The 13th Annual GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch is brought to you by Duke Energy Corporation and Nperspective CFO & Strategic Services, in association with the Edward Lowe Foundation. 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 🚀🚀 Proud to support European Women on Boards (EWOB)’s Board Readiness Program, where excellence meets opportunity. Why do we still need these initiatives in 2024? Because: ‼️ While women make up 17.4% of board members (DAX, MDAX, SDAX) in Germany, there is 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧𝐞 (!) 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐄𝐎 of a DAX 40 company: Belén Garijo (CEO of Merck). ‼️ While the proportion of women on supervisory boards (DAX, MDAX, SDAX) is 36.1%, in Germany there are 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐱 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 of supervisory boards of the 160 listed companies. Key facts above: Lea-Sophie Cramer 🙌🏻
36 women from Belgium, Turkey, Germany, Ireland, Iran, Greece and many other countries are coming together for the first time. 💫 We are very proud to welcome the 4th cohort of EWOB Board Readiness Program (BRP)! This 3-month experience is both tactical preparation for future board positions and an opportunity to build a supportive network, committed to being strong advocates for each other, and unabashedly visible. Welcome everyone, we are excited to have you here - and we wish all a great first session on 'Developing a strategic pathway to the boardroom'. 🚀
