Ladies and gentlemen, it's that time again. No one ever claimed our administrative team could sing, and honestly, that should have been enough to stop us from doing Carpool Karaoke. But did it? Of course not. Principal Cory Snider, who couldn’t hit a note if it was slapping him in the face, decided to give Back Street Boys a run for their money. Let’s say Back Street Boys can sleep easy tonight—Snider’s singing isn’t exactly the comeback they need to worry about. But hey, what we lack in vocal talent, we more than makeup for in enthusiasm (and questionable dance moves). But this isn't just about our spectacularly off-key serenade. We're answering the four big questions that have been on every parent’s mind: 1. School Supply Lists: Yes, they’re out, and yes, you still need to buy those 64-pack crayons. 2. Open House Dates: Mark your calendars—no need to bring earplugs (unless you’re a fan of our singing). 3. Drop-Off Procedures: We’ve got it all mapped out—kind of like our attempt at harmonizing, only more coordinated. 4. Pick-Up Procedures: Just like our karaoke, it’s all about timing… and a bit of patience. So, buckle up and join us for a ride full of laughs (and zero harmonies). Here's an inspiring news story: a Headmaster buys seven 2nd-hand pianos for £16 in total, and places them around the school estate for children to play. The result is that children play them in breaks, entertain each other and try to pick out tunes they know. Student-led arts participation is transformed, for just £16. It's a triumph for two reasons: 1. How to think outside the box as a leader 2. Arts provision isn't just about resources, excellent teaching and timetable space. It's about empowering students to find their own creativity. Give children the space to make music socially, away from the formality of teaching, and we'll better inspire the next generation of musicians. I use this song to teach parallel structure, and it makes my students smile. It was a staple in PE class, teaching kiddos a routine (from throwing a ball to dancing a dance). Now, I play and repeat the words “make a pattern, make a pattern, let’s make a pattern!” as we walk through examples of parallel structure in class. Every year, my adult learners leave class saying “I’m totally using this with my kids!!!” Next time you come across an example of parallel structure, I hope you hear Blazer Fresh’s words singing in your head too: “make a pattern, make a pattern, let’s make a pattern!  The musical language is tonal, melodious and discursive. Throughout the pieces, different metric indications (2/4, 3/4, 6/8, 4/4) and different keys (F major, G minor, Eb major, C minor, Bb major) alternate, in order to encourage the musical growth of young instrumentalists with a wide metric and harmonic variety, always maintaining constant technical simplicity.  Replacements are frequently used, to allow the performance even to incomplete or poorly balanced instrumental groups.
 The total duration of the pieces is included in ten minutes about. Here is a Tuesday Tip for parents! When you ask your child what they did at school that day do you usually get an I don’t know, I don’t remember, or the most frustrating answer of nothing? An 8 hour day is a lot for a kid to have answers about without something specific to focus on. It is especially effective to ask first about something you know they enjoy and that will often lead to further thoughts about the day. So, instead of what did you do today try: Who did you sit with at lunch? What was something funny that happened today? What did you play during recess? Did you learn about a new book today? Which special class (music, art, PE, etc) did you have today?
