Superpower: Empowering Diverse Work Teams with Skills for Navigating Cross-cultural Conversations Increasing Productivity, Innovation and Profit.
🧡In Sacramento, CA, I had the honor of doing a program for the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH). Together we unpacked how to attract and retain diverse talent. Here are participant takeaways: 👉Before you ask a person a question, ask if you can ask them. 👉When you take an interest in a person, they’ll tell you what makes them unique in their time. 👉Don't assume you know a person, learn about them by listening. 👉You don’t need a lot of time to learn a person’s need but you do need to take your time and allow them to reveal their unique need(s) in their time. 👉I love the bite-sized steps for entering into a conversation. Particularly when someone says something triggering, we know now what we need to do. 😎If you think these takeaways would be helpful to you and your organization, direct message me.

Proudly supporting the women, men and machines that are building the infrastructures of tomorrow in Africa.
I've been on #linkedin for 17 years but never did this : to recommend a book. #FACTFULNESS I do it today because this book has changed my life, or at the very least my perception of our world. Written by world-acclaimed Physician and statistician Hans #Rosling , and his son and daughter in law, this book might very well change the way you see things too. At the very least you'll learn the same 3 things I learned : 1 - We are ignorant. But that can be solved, easily. Discover how a bunch of chimpanzees did better at an MCQ test on demographics than Nobel Prize panelists, and how you can immensly help just the very people around you with this. 2 - Journalists, policitians and activists lie to you. Always. Structurally. But not because they are mean, or deceiptful, or have some sort of secret agenda. That is because of the Bad News Bias. Because the Bad News is their industry, their craft. Journalists won't report on babies that don't die from a disease that don't exist anymore, or on crops that don't fail. Politicians won't campaign on policies that are working, slowly, after years, and suggest to precisely do nothing because it's working, and activists won't march the streets about problems that have been solved. THIS does not mean that you should not read the news, or not listen to speeches. On the contrary : you should read and listen more, when you've learned the News is, by definition, bad news, and know what to make of it. 3 - In amazing contrast with (2), this book will quietly demonstrate to you that our world, in 2024, based on all the reliable metrics available, scientifically proven with factfulness and accuracy, that this world has never been better than it is today. Yes, in spite of all what you are hearing on wars and woes every day. This does not mean our world is perfect, far from it, but it is a FACT that it's the best it has ever been. And it is up to us to maintain this trend for our children. You should really read this book.

What type of learnings can be found at a masterclass from the Founder's Pass? The most recent one was conducted by Bettina Steinbrugger, founder & CEO of erdbeerwoche GmbH, a social enterprise focused on producing sustainable menstrual products, who empowers women and raises awareness about menstrual health. During her masterclass, she addressed three main topics: 🔦 the difference between marketing and PR, 📸 her journey with PR strategies for small businesses, 📖 and actionable steps to use PR as a cost-effective tool for storytelling. Do you want to listen to it? Join the Founder's Pass to watch the recording but also to get access to the upcoming ones! Learn more about Founder's Pass here: https://lnkd.in/d4_thKJ5

Really looking forward to the latest Close Community event! This conference will explore the impact of trauma on the developing brain and the power of loving, healthy, emotionally available relationships within the lives of our children. Helping us to explore this topic will be speakers Suzanne Zeedyk Sarah Ockwell-Smith & Leslee Udwin - in the wonderful Radisson Blue! Yes it's an early years conference, but not just for the early years sector, and would highly recommend to anyone with a personal and professional interest in early childhood development. For my connections in the construction sector, a proportion of young people who enter our sector looking to have a successful career, most likely at operative or trade level, are likely to have experienced trauma in their early childhood in some form, and having a understanding of how this has, and will impact them, I believe will help equip us with knowledge and tools (excuse the pun) to support them in their employment journey, through their apprenticeship and support them to develop their infinite potential. I have heard frustrations from colleagues in construction (and I understand having faced recruitment challenges at Paradigm Landscapes to) about the level, and mindset of young people entering our sector....well lets do what we can to support those young people, help address the skill shortage we face, and build the future workforce we need to meet the demands of what looks like an very exciting future for our sector.
