Hello LinkedIn friends! I was quite busy with personal matters so I didn't have time to write about a wonderful opportunity I had last December, when I held my second guest lectures at OTH Amberg-Weiden. The lecture was on “How we can achieve sustainability in a complex world”, so we focused mainly on how complex our society/economy is and what sustainability means in a complex system. We started off my discussing the difference between complicated and complex problems, then moved on to the four stages of societal evolution in awareness (based of Otto Scharmer's book "Leading from the Emerging Future") and how each stage has dealt with the complex problems of society, followed by examples of what each stage of awareness thinks when it comes to sustainability. We also looked at what principles help address complexity in today’s socio-environmental economy and examined economic and business solutions that already embody these sustainability principles (such as Universal Basic Income, the Buurtzorg Nederland model of management and the 'advice process' at The AES Corporation). Finally, we reflected on how these principles could help the societies that we live in. I would like to extend my gratitude to Prof. Dr. Denise Fischer for the opportunity to talk to your masters’ students and to Laura Stoussavljewitsch and the whole International Office for funding my trip and accommodation with a scholarship. To all OTH-AW students, this scholarship is available to you as well by contacting the International Office, if you would like to travel abroad for your internship, to a conference or in my case travel from my home country to my university for a guest lecture. Updated about me: Through my education and internships, I’ve gained experience in researching the impacts of a changing climate, the policies involved, and ecological shifts. I thrive in intense research-based outdoor/lab environments. Incorporating the many facets of each subject is my focal strength, most importantly plant science, ecology, data science, and chemistry. Each year during harvest season I've made an effort to immerse myself in the world of cannabis as the industry is up and coming as well. Being at the root of cannabis reform and sustainability, working with new carbon sinks, and making connections in the industry is fulfilling in itself. Alongside my environmental focus, I self-produce, compose, and perform music in the alternative rock genre through an assortment of instruments and the DAW Logic for Mac. I've created a safe space for mental health struggles and intersectionality with my platform. By combining these passion projects I aim to spread awareness on the climate crisis, green initiatives, and the impacts this topic has on mental health and racial issues.
