Reasons to Attend the Farm Dinner - Part 2 The history of the farm is a wonderful testament to what happens when a community mobilizes itself for a necessary need. This year, we are grateful to celebrate our 12th year in operation and proud of the progressive work we have done thus far in enriching our community through a thriving farm, creating access to healthy food, providing holistic hands-on training, and intergenerational learning experiences. We invite you to join BCCF Dinner at the Farm Fundraiser on September 19th, 2024, 6pm - 9pm, to raise funds which will go towards supporting our efforts to provide organic produce to our community members, offer quality farm education programming for all age groups and to sustain the general operations of the farm. What book inspired you the most? "With 770 million people in the world unable to read a single word & a further 2 billion people struggling to read a sentence, this simply can not continue." - World Literacy Foundation. We are #Unitedindiversity - starting this February, as a core pillar, Round Table International aims to inspire education & literacy-based projects. Vice President Welfare, Director and Trustee at Northumbria Students' Union | Public Health, Nutrition
🍽️ Exciting news! With the food pantry fully refurbished, restocked, and opening on Monday, 14th October, we’ve received some incredible support from our friends at Northumbria University Library Services with generous food donations. 🙌 Having a food pantry within Northumbria Students' Union is more than just offering a helping hand—it’s about ensuring no student goes hungry and everyone has access to basic necessities. For many students, managing finances while studying can be overwhelming, and the pantry provides a safety net during tough times. 💡 The impact of the food pantry goes beyond food. It creates a sense of community, where students know they can turn to us for support, without any judgment. It helps reduce financial stress, allowing students to focus on what really matters: their education and wellbeing. Big thanks to everyone who has supported us so far—whether through donations or spreading the word! We couldn’t do it without you. 💙 Stay tuned for more updates as we get ready to open the doors and continue making a positive impact on student lives! Central Bucks MobilePack Let’s do a quick walk down memory lane: 1. Central Bucks MobilePack had its beginnings in 2013. 2. Since 2013, we have packed 6,563,160 meals! 3. Since 2013, we’ve appreciated the support of 23,515 community volunteers! 3. Since 2013, we’ve raised approximately $1,663,290! Our community pays for the meals so the efforts of frontline NGO’s and missions, doing the hard work in the field, don’t incur that financial burden. 4. THE BIG AND BEST NUMBER: 17,981 kids have gotten a hot meal/day for an entire year! The need remains staggering and sadly steady. 6,200 kids die every day from starvation and malnutrition. EVERY DAY! Our effort makes a difference and provides HOPE for people all over the world. The food we’ve packed over the last 10 years has gone to 23 countries on 4 continents to people in their most desperate hour. And it’s all possible because you've cared enough to offer two hours of your time, have some fun and pack some meals. We hope you’ll join us again May 16-20 at beautiful Delaware Valley University in Doylestown. Registration to volunteer opens in early April. Your presence and your financial support means everything to us. The link below will enable you to support this event directly. With a goal of 1,000,000+ meals, we hope to raise $291,000 for this event. The attached picture is tough to see, but we need you to know what’s at stake and how real and urgent the need is in the world. We hope you’ll help us! https://lnkd.in/epuZXQnq

Such an important message about #giving from Doug Taylor at The Smith Family, especially as we head into the end of the financial year. Please read and share this vital message! #workplacegiving #charity #eofy #fundraising #workplacegivingaustralia

I’ve been talking this week, as we approach the EOFY, to anyone who will listen about the ‘perfect storm’ charities face at the moment. Cost of living pressures are causing an unprecedented level of demand for support from people facing big life pressures as well as the challenge of raising funds. Two data points: - Infoxchange’s AskIzzy had over 300,000 searches in May which was their highest monthly record - The The University of Queensland’s ‘Giving What We Can’ survey tells us that 78% of respondents had reduced their donations because of the cost-of-living crisis It’s pretty tough, but most challenging for families on low incomes who face impossible decisions between, for example, paying rent or buying their child’s school textbooks. Cost of living effects all of us but not equally and so as we approach the EOFY, please think about the charities you can support. Also, read some thinking from the team at The Smith Family and I about how to make a decision to donate money and thanks to The Daily Telegraph for publishing this on the 26 June 2024. And, if you are able to support our work at The Smith Family, we'd appreciate it-https://rb.gy/wcxzru.

Did you know that 40% of 11 year-olds in England from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school unable to read to the expected standard? Through Chapter One, a number of my Mishcon de Reya LLP colleagues and I are volunteering online for 30 minutes a week to help disadvantaged children improve their reading skills. It's fun and rewarding and easy to fit into my working week. chapterone.org #volunteersweek #chapteronevolunteer #employeevolunteering
18,000 hours… That’s how much time our amazing volunteers have spent providing online reading support this school year - meaning they have read with children for a whole two years collectively since last September! Today is the beginning of Volunteers’ Week 2024 (3-9 June), when Chapter One joins thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK. For Chapter One, the week is a real celebration of our 2,700 online reading volunteers and the impact they have on the future of young readers all over the UK. Week in, week out, they are developing fundamental reading skills and inspiring a love for reading from an early age, helping to build confidence in children who might otherwise slip through the cracks. Emma Bell, Chapter One CEO has a special message for all of our amazing volunteers 👇 Read more: https://lnkd.in/ed8dFEUR #ChapterOne #itallstartswithliteracy #employeewellbeing #socialvalue #socialimpact #socialmobility #literacy #corporatepartnerships #corporatevolunteering #volunteersweek
