Habee Hamilton sheds light on the often unspoken and uncomfortable aspects of allyship, emphasising the importance of fostering allyship within the Black community itself. According to Habee, it is crucial for us to examine how we support and uplift one another, how we unite as a community, and how we actively engage with each other to drive collective progress. Habee suggests that in order to truly grow as an ally, you must be willing to confront and navigate deep discomfort, ultimately becoming comfortable with the challenges that arise from it. I think a part of Allyship should actually lay within the black community too. I think there's some things that absolutely those who are not black don't have the experience, should do and can do. But I also think within the community we can help each other too. So how are we supporting each other? How are we coming together? How are we making sure that we engage with each other in a way that is bringing us together? And driving us forward. So I think let's again together in action, it's about all of us coming together and I think there has to be an element of deep discomfort, but also being comfortable with that deep discomfort. You must be able to be sitting in discomfort in order to be a fantastic ally. There's no way without it. So I think, yeah, just really drive home that point. And it's it is uncomfortable. It doesn't, you know, sometimes it sucks, whatever it may be, but you know that you're doing it because someone else is not going to be harmed. Someone else is not going to suffer. Someone else will have better outcomes because you're in that place of discomfort, which is OK. But where I see it's more challenging is things like career progression. And I remember so distinctively, I had two white men in my career that were absolutely instrumental in really putting my name forward and making sure that they spoke about me in such a way that I was my, my hat was in the ring, so to speak, in terms of making sure that I could, I could have career progression, I could go to the next level. I was being spoken in front of and directors and I and I I secured some really amazing roles off the back of them, understanding. Knowing that I might may struggle to do so not only as a black individual, but as a black woman, as a young black woman. They were so instrumental and for me. And so we think about my life and the things that really. Impacted me in terms of where I am today. It was those moments, yes, when you're sticking up with the comments, and that's important, but my career progression has been everything in terms of where I am today. I would not be where I am today without those two men so, so grateful and thankful for their allyship.
