Do you have a well defined, intentional personal brand? Do you know how to articulate it very well so that your stakeholders know who they're dealing with and they're able to place you in opportunities that are aligned with your skills? My name is Masood Shajara and I'm a black woman in leadership coach and founder of Black Women in the Workplace. Trusting is strong. Personal brand is a important strategy for black women in the workplace who want to. Advanced leadership positions and be effective in those positions having a congruent brand. So which means that it makes sense, it doesn't feel fake, it is aligned. So who you say you are, what you say, the work that you do and how you show up is congruent and aligned. Having that well defined congruent brand is going to be very important for an effective carrier strategy. So your personal brand is not just your reputation. Your reputation is how people experience your personal brand. But you want to have an intentional, defined personal brand that is aligned with the way you show up, even in different spaces. So in digital spaces and in your physical presence, your brand needs to be refined and aligned. Why is it important to have a strong personal brand? While a strong personal brand helps you cover niche, a space in the minds of your stakeholders, a personal brand tells your stakeholders that if I work with this person, if I support this person, this is what I'm I have to expect. This is what I'm going to expect. This is what I can rely on. Expecting this is very important for. In the workplace, because how you often get ahead is not just because of your hard work and your competency, but having people, sponsors and mentors in the workplace who are able to advocate for you and people advocate for you. When your brand is aligned to theirs. When your brand does not pose a risk to their brand. When your brand actually amplifies and makes their own brand look better. So for you to attract the sponsors, the supporters, the stakeholders who are going to support your advancement and your success and your impacting the workplace, you need to carve a specific brand that is congruent, that creates a special niche in in people's minds so that they know that if I support this, I'm clear what I'm dealing with, I'm clear what I'm supporting and it gives the same experience. The similar experience in the workplace it's also very important that your brand is bigger, surpasses your current job and in today's world, there is always changing that. Workplaces are always refining their strategies and trying to find ways to be effective and efficient. Your job can end at any time, so we want to make sure that your brand is bigger than just your workplace so that you're attractive not just to. To the workplace that you're in, in the industry and and to other stakeholders that are not just in your workplace. So want to ensure that your brand is beyond just where you work.
