Our CEO Timi Okuwa featured on the Byline Times podcast alongside Bishop Desmond Jadu, and Glenda Caesar to share powerful insights and stories of those affected by the Windrush scandal. Brought to the UK as British citizens, they worked tirelessly to rebuild Britain post-WWII, yet many were stripped of their rights under hostile immigration policies. Individuals like Glenda Caesar, who worked for over 20 years in the NHS, were unjustly terminated and left to fight for their basic rights. We will continue to hold the government accountable. The Windrush generation deserves justice, acknowledgement, and reconciliation. ✊🏽 #Windrush #Justice #Accountability #BritishCitizens Spotify podcasts: https://lnkd.in/dtUjYFQ7 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/ddjs_GJT

This story came out at the beginning of the year: https://lnkd.in/eM5rBykX? and it explores a uniquely American issue (and tragedy). I think they do a good job of trying to understand what is likely happening and who is impacted most. "So this suggests, actually, that the people who are being killed are probably some of the most vulnerable in American society — low income people walking to work along a highway in the middle of the night going to a shift, can’t afford a car, and homeless people." While the podcast is focused on cars, transit and mobility, I think it begs a larger question about the spaces we do or do not create for those who don't have money and the many systems already in place - and the ones being built today - that simply do not care to include the needs of those without financial stability. Sometimes it also feels uniquely American to push people to the margins mostly so that we then don't have to see what happens to them out there.

New Podcast Episode Alert! Joining us in this episode is Dov Wilker of the American Jewish Committee Southeast, who updates us on his recent trip to Israel and discusses the documentary "Supernova," which details the October 7 music festival slaughter. All sides fairly portray the tragedies that occur there. Hamas's joy captured on their own cameras. The anxiety they experienced for up to nine hours until the problem was resolved, and the joy the people were having until the sun rose. Next, we hear from Leah Aldridge of Women for Nikki on their efforts to support Nikki Haley by working in the states of South Carolina and Super Tuesday. I'm old school, but I believe primaries are about voting your conscience. I'm voting for Nikki, and I think she should stay in. I support Nikki and believe she ought to remain in. Up to the 1976 convention, Ronald Reagan remained in office. George H. W. Bush persisted until the 1980 convention. I could go on. We don't coronate a nominee, they have to win it. I admit the path is narrow, but she deserves to stay in. At last, Heath Garrett provides us with an inside look at what the GOP should be doing, as well as talks the left is having about possible replacements for the Biden/Harris ticket. Sen. Raphael Warnock is one of the names being floated for vice president. He will not, in any case, talk in word salad. Georgia, in my opinion, is still a red state. The approximately 420,000 Republicans who abstained from voting in the 2021 runoff provided us with two Democratic senators; but the state remains a Red State, as demonstrated by the results of the 2022 election, and Governor Brian Kemp will make every effort in 2024 to prove that. This article explores the history of shock jock DJs, identifying the pioneers, examining notable examples, and analyzing the societal impact and regulatory responses that followed their rise to fame. Shock jocks also played a role in shaping public discourse, often bringing fringe or controversial views into the mainstream. Their influence extended beyond the radio, impacting television, print media, and eventually the internet. Figures like Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony paved the way for the uncensored, opinion-driven content that now dominates platforms like YouTube and podcasts. https://lnkd.in/gzzu2EmM

Another punchy podcast on haiti, this one with jason fields and matthew gault from angry planet, a formidable tag team. The teaser, avail for free on spotify, was our exchange on economic policy as related to security forces and job creation and gang demobilization. We tend to push too hard too early for neo-liberal reforms. Jobs first, or there will never be an economy to transition. In the full episode also covered the Kenyan security force and new political arrangement and a bit on how u.s. policy has inadvertently armed haiti's gangs better than the security forces. https://lnkd.in/e9RHUgwS #haiti. #armstafficking. #kenya

A podcast from Evan Feigenbaum and Alena Popova, a former American diplomat and a Russian oppositionist, to rekindle shattered faith in the power of politics and navigate the promise and perils of technology.
Venezuela's July 27 election has arrived! And Nicolas Maduro is being challenged for power like never before. Dictatorships like Maduro's harness the technology tools and algorithms incubated in democracies to suppress democracy and silence opposition voices. In episode 3 of the Politics Possible podcast, David Smolansky and Mu Sochua tell our co-hosts Alena Popova and Evan A. Feigenbaum how authoritarian regimes do this in Venezuela and Cambodia - and how this challenges the major tech platforms. Listen to our wide-ranging discussion with David and Sochua, prominent oppositionists, both now exiled, who managed to get elected to office in authoritarian systems despite the odds - and tune in for other exciting episodes on all of the major podcast platforms, including Apple and Spotify, and at politicspossible.com.
