[EVENT] On 24 & 25 Sep, the NATO Space COE attended the #DefenceSpace24 Conference hosted in London.📍   ➡️The two-day conference bought together military and government officials, international space commanders, and representatives from commercial primes, SMEs and start-ups.🌐   💢The event provided an excellent forum for lively discussions about Joint #Space, Multi-domain Operations, and Space Futures;🛰all of these topics are of great interest to our Concept, Development and Experimentation Division, and this dynamic event will serve to further inspire our support to allied Space operations through our monitoring of, and experimentation with, emerging concepts, technologies and capabilities.🔍   UKspace UK Ministry of Defence

[Chiefs of South Korea's JCS, US Spacecom meet] Kim Myung-soo, the chair of South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Stephen Whiting, the commander of the US Space Command, met on Monday in Seoul. According to the JCS, Kim and Whiting held a meeting to discuss close two-way cooperation and to enhance South Korea-US alliance’s space capabilities amid growing North Korean threats in space and ongoing military exchanges between Russia and North Korea. North Korea launched its first military reconnaissance satellite in November last year, with plans to launch several more in the next few years. More specifically, the JCS said the discussion on Monday included ways for strengthening capabilities for conducting joint space operations and for establishing a bilateral consultative committee for military space cooperation as well as for holding joint tabletop exercises. With the near-space race heating up of late, especially the ongoing jostling between the usual suspects in the black barrier area, seems quite odd that across various Chinese OS reporting, several are rehashing last year’s headlines. China’s 2023 precise tracking, measurement and accurate location of a hypersonic object then (including Shenzhou XV), is getting top billing again now. Given that Xi has probably seen that Putin’s hypersonic arsenal is less than, shall we say, expected, maybe it’s time to do a bit of PRC puffing up China’s fifth military force command ie space, in light of the USN’s recent reporting of their expanding anti-surface HALO (Hypersonic Air Launched Offensive) abilities? Or maybe it’s just another distraction from Taiwan?
