Two things I've quickly learnt starting a small business - the power of networking and the value of actively seeking information and advice. Tuesday's workshop on Building Confidence and Capability for Women in Business beautifully rolled both into one!   Some things I’ll be actioning (my three key takeaways): 💡 You story is part of your brand – our life journey to this point is all part of who we are and why we started a business. Its part of our unique selling point and should be reflected in our brand. 💡 Value yourself – value your expertise, your time and what you bring to delivering your services. 💡 Competitor analysis isn’t a once off – as you build your business, and understand your niche and unique selling point its useful to update your competitor analysis to see where you sit in the market. Meeting this group of women who are all passionate about connecting and supporting their communities across Queanbeyan, Canberra, Bungendore, and Braidwood was energising and inspiring. Happy new 2024 to all! Pro tip from the Alaska Women's Business Center at Business Impact NW: Carrie Jean Shephard and I frequently work with Alaskans who have amazing ideas for businesses. They express overwhelm as far as where to start. One thing that can help is to set an amount of time that is devoted specifically to the task that you feel intimidated about. As example: I often use 15 minutes as a starting point. Go ahead and focus on the task knowing that the timer will go off and then you can be done for that day. I've managed to completely fail at the below advise I shared with my wonderful community Nurture Network this week. I tried to put the "touch it once" advice from Samantha Secomb FPFS into practice. Initially promising, but reality check – my to-do list remains untouched - as I had serveral moments of re looking and re checking - pausing... then completely stopping altogether, so a few unproductive days here. Anyone else in this boat? But I'm learning from this hiccup and gearing up to catch up this weekend. Failures are our stepping stones to growth, and I'm committed to turning this setback into a setup for success. I'm trying to remember that, it's not about avoiding failure but learning from it and evolving.
