Bladder Cancer poses a significant and increasing threat to the Indian population. It's vital for both doctors and patients to be well-informed to ensure early detection and effective management. Research indicates that up to half of bladder cancer patients experience relapse post-bladder removal, with 70-90% of cases leading to distant metastasis and poor prognosis. Insights shared by Dr. Vineet Talwar, Director of the Department of Medical Oncology at RGCIRC, Delhi. #bladdercancerindia #bladdercancer #uhapo #astellasindia #bladdercancerawareness Sampada Gosavi Stephen Head Neha Dwivedi CRSF - Cancer Research and Statistic Foundation Uhapo Sanjeev Sharma Vivek Sharma Akhil Kapoor Dr Trinanjan Basu Dr. Nandini Menon Dr. Shikha Sharma Urvashi Prasad Dr Puneet Ahluwalia

Diagnostic trajectories in #sarcoma and #rarecancerpatients-in-general are often complex with delays at different levels due to the unfamiliarity of people, (the later)patients, and doctors with the disease and the heterogeneity in histologies and clinical presentations. This may lead to late diagnoses and frustration at all levels and reduced HRQoL of patients. Olga Husson presented at #ESMOSarcomaRareCancers meeting in Lugano results of a study in the Netherlands on diagnostic trajectories of rare cancer patients and Emily Holthuis, PhD student of our team, presents a poster today with interesting results of symptoms reported by patients to their GP prior to their #sarcoma diagnosis. The discussant yesterday highlighted results of our QUEST study in which we compare diagnostic trajectory data between the UK and The Netherlands in #Sarcoma (Vicky Soomers). More results will follow the coming time. Grateful to the hard work of our research team #AYASARCOMA The Netherlands Cancer Institute Olga Husson. Hopefully this work will give us hints for the future in solving part of this difficult to crack multifactorial delay-in-diagnosis issue.

𝐀 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞-𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 🔬 Colonoscopy - the gold standard, yet invasive. Stool tests - effective but...the "ick factor". What if there was an easier option? A new study reveals a promising blood test that detected 83% of colon cancers. With a false positive rate of only 10%. While not as accurate as colonoscopy... It offers a compelling alternative screening approach. The Impact? Potentially Transformative. Over 50% of eligible adults skip colon cancer screening. A simple blood draw could motivate the unscreened masses. Early detection is key for successful treatment. This blood test may save countless lives. In the fight against colon cancer, this innovative screening method deserves serious consideration from medical professionals and the public alike. P.S. Breast Cancer Awareness Month: The Power of BRCA Testing October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a crucial time to highlight the importance of early detection and prevention, especially through BRCA testing. As featured in a recent article by Dr. Anup Rawool and Vid Karmarkar, PhD in The Hindu, BRCA testing can be a game-changer in the fight against hereditary cancers. Angelina Jolie’s well-known story is a powerful example of the impact of genetic testing. With a strong family history of cancer, she opted for BRCA testing, which revealed mutations that significantly increased her risk. This knowledge empowered her to take proactive measures and reduce her risk through preventive surgery. In India, where breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women, such testing can be life-saving. However, equitable access to BRCA testing remains a challenge, with many high-risk individuals unable to afford the cost or unaware of the benefits. Addressing this requires a dual approach: Raising Awareness: Educating the public about the benefits of genetic testing and how it can guide personalized preventive care. Making Testing More Accessible: Reducing the cost of BRCA testing and ensuring availability, especially in underserved populations. As we observe #PinkOctober, let’s focus on making genetic testing accessible for all. Early detection can save lives, but only if the right tools are within reach for everyone, not just a few. Together, we can advocate for a future where every woman has the chance to understand her risks and take charge of her health. What are your thoughts on the role of genetic testing in cancer prevention? #BreastCancerAwareness #BRCA #GeneticTesting #PublicHealth #CancerPrevention #PinkOctober #HealthcareEquity #WomensHealth

🎉 I am excited to announce that our recent study, "Predictive Factors Associated with Health-Related Quality of Life in Patients with Colorectal Cancer in Iran: A Cross-Sectional Study," has been published in BMJ Open! (IF=2.4, Q1) This research highlights key factors influencing the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in colorectal cancer patients, with significant findings that can help improve patient care in this critical area. We explored how factors such as comorbidities, treatment type, and socio-demographic characteristics predict HRQoL, with implications for tailored interventions that can enhance patient outcomes. A big thank you to my co-authors, Mohamad Hasan Sahebihagh and Neda Gilani, as well as the entire team involved in this study. It was a privilege to work on such impactful research, and we hope it contributes meaningfully to the field of cancer care.
