Have you ever wondered why Miami has some of the most iconic architecture in America? Would it surprise you that one firm in particular is behind a lot of it? Some 200 projects by the architecture firm Arquitectonica—over a third of its portfolio—are located in Miami-Dade County or nearby. 14 of Miami’s 50 tallest buildings also are among the firm’s designs. It seems the architects at this one firm have been defining the image of this world famous city for 4 decades. Since the firm’s founding in 1977, Arquitectonica has designed the federal courthouse, Dolphins stadium, Heat arena, two cruise terminals, a convention center, a handful of museums and even the city’s port tunnel entrance. Fourteen of Miami’s 50 tallest buildings are the firm’s projects. Arquitectonica is not just located in Miami; the architects have been defining the image of that city for over four decades. The firm’s structures are foundational to any conception of Miami in the 1980s #miami #wallstreetsouth #realestate

The Blue Willow team are delighted to announce that, together with Preston Baker Planning, we have successfully secured full planning and listed building consent for the conversion of the Grade II* listed 18-19 Colliergate, York, on behalf of Richard Roberts Holdings. 👏 18-19 Colliergate was built in 1748, for Ralph Yoward, attorney, who was the receiver of the archbishops rents. It comprises a unique example of a well-proportioned 18th century building, offering a clear and complete expression of the principles of classical, elegant, Georgian architecture but with early 17th century post medieval origins. 🗝️ The design of the proposed scheme struck a careful balance between protecting the significance of the building as well as its sensitive position within the York Central Historic Core Conservation Area (YCHCCA) and the York City Centre Area of Archaeological Importance, along with stringent building regulations required for residential conversions. In particular, fire safety.👩🚒 The Blue Willow team would like to extend their thanks to the National Amenity Societies who provided extensive feedback during the pre-application stage, and also to the City of York Council for their continuous engagement with the design team. 📝 This project is a testament to the importance of engaging heritage support early on in the design process and ensuring that there is a robust design team in place for your protect. Blue Willow would like to extend their thanks to the entire design team, whom they look forward to working with again on future projects. If you have a complex property, and are looking for help converting it, why not get in touch today. 📞 #planningwin #planning #listedbuilding #listedbuildingconsent #conservationarea #planningpermission #residentialdevelopment #residential #development #buildingregulations #heritage #archaeology #heritageconsultancy #team #design #conservation #york #northyorkshire #cityofyorkcouncil #architecture #history

Historic preservation is about protecting the craftsmanship, history, and cultural significance of old buildings and properties. Understanding the difference between restoration and renovation is crucial in this process. Restoration aims to return a structure to its original state, using period-appropriate materials and techniques. The focus is on preserving historical integrity, maintaining original features and design. This approach is ideal for showcasing the architecture as it once was. Renovation, in contrast, updates a property to meet modern needs while preserving some original elements. It allows for more flexibility, often incorporating contemporary features to improve functionality. While it modernizes the space, it may sacrifice some historical accuracy. Choosing between restoration and renovation depends on your goal: preserving the past exactly as it was or blending history with modernity. Ultimately, both restoration and renovation play vital roles in historic preservation, each contributing to the longevity and relevance of historic properties. By carefully considering your approach, you can ensure these structures continue to tell their stories for generations to come. #historicpreservation #restoration #renovation #architecturalsignificance #historicarchitecture
