Motorists think government should do more to make EVs affordable. Half of motorists (50%) say the government should do more to make electric cars affordable, new research shows.

“There are more benefits than you're aware of, and most of them save money.” The average cost to operate an EV in the United States is $485 per year, while the average for a gasoline-powered vehicle is $1,117. EV Rebates for used EVs will help more people get into EVs, experience the benefits of EVs and drive with zero tailpipe emissions while saving more money. Used EVs are perfect for commuting to work and traveling around or outside of cities, while some used EVs are stilll great for long distance travel nationally & internationally. Most EV batteries are warranted for at least 8 years, so as long as the used EV rebate has say 4 years left of the battery warranty, this program would be a good idea in my opinion. Last month I took delivery of the one millionth EV sold in the UK! That’s a slight exaggeration, I took delivery in the month the millionth EV was registered but let’s not quibble over such details. So we’re into mass adoption and the prices will plumet, right? Not quite. Whilst fleet sales have been encouraging, largely driven by government subsidies, private sales have lagged behind, partially due to high ticket prices. The UK ban on sales of new EVs has shifted back and forth, originally set for 2040, then 2035, then 2030, recently reset back to 2035. But it's another rule that may force prices lower: Manufacturers are fined £15k per vehicle sold, if EVs don't make up a certain %age of car sales (22% in 2024, 28%, 33%, 38%, 52%, 66%, 80%, finally 100% by 2035).  If consumer demand doesn't increase rapidly to match these volumes there will be an oversupply and inevitably 'fire sales' to shift stock – up to £15k off by my reconning.  Good news for the green but thrifty consumer but even better news for those manufacturers with EV credits to trade!   #ev #electricvehicles #evehicles #electricvehicle https://lnkd.in/eicV-nf9
