🚨 Did you know that more than 1/4 of blood cancers are only diagnosed in an emergency? GPs may suspect their patient has blood cancer, but the symptoms often don't fit a referral pathway. Patients who aren't directed towards urgent referral experience severe and sometimes life-threatening delays in diagnosis. This can have devastating consequences, including: ❌ Fewer treatment options ❌ Poorer quality of life ❌ Potential for reduced life expectancy Learn more about delayed diagnosis, and help us create a brighter future for people with blood cancer 👇 https://bit.ly/3XhDKo2 #BloodCancerOvershadowed

#ColorectalCancer is on the rise among young adults and among those who are too young to begin screening. Two-thirds experience symptoms for many months before they’re finally diagnosed. Be sure to alert your doctor if you’re experiencing blood in your stool, persistent abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits, or unexplained weight loss. If these symptoms persist, the possibility of colorectal cancer must be considered. It’s never too early to talk to a doctor about when it’s appropriate to start screening. Early diagnosis saves lives! It can be difficult to know when you should contact your GP if you are worried about your health. Having any of these symptoms doesn't automatically mean you might have cancer. But if you've been feeling unwell for a while, or your symptoms don't get better as quickly as you think they should, it's always worth getting checked out. If it turns out not to be cancer, you haven’t wasted anyone’s time. If it does turn out to be cancer, then getting diagnosed early is really important, as early treatment will improve the outcome 💜 Find out more about the signs and symptoms of cancer at: https://bit.ly/40x2OXO #TYACAM #TYACancer #TeenageAndYoungAdultCancer #SpotTYACancer

Some encouraging news here. In addition, 1. How will these numbers be affected in the future by the increasing number of patients who have received the HPV vaccine? 2. How will these numbers be affected by changes in screening recommendations including the added emphasis on HPV screening for females at risk for cervical cancer? #cervicalcancerprevention #JAMA
Between 2001 and 2019, #CervicalCancer incidence declined or remained stable among US women except for the 30- to 34-year-old age group, in whom incidence increased 2.5% per year after 2012. The observed increase in incidence among 30- to 34-year-old women could be real as a result of a true increase in cervical cancer incidence or due to increased early detection with a stable disease occurrence. https://ja.ma/42aPJWp

Only 20% of ovarian cancers are detected at an early stage. However, a quick diagnosis is crucial as it can lead to 94% of people living longer than 5 years after diagnosis. The trouble is symptoms of ovarian cancer can masquerade as many other conditions, and be easily brushed aside. Bloating Abdominal pain Frequent urination Feeling full quickly Unusual Fatigue Upset Stomach But are these symptoms recurring? Are treatments for other common conditions not helping? It’s time to become vigilant about this silent killer so we don’t end up with many more tragic stories. Spread the message to those you love who could be affected with ovarian cancer and don’t be afraid to speak up about your symptoms. #ovariancancerawareness

Hearing or delivering the news that someone has cancer is something nobody wants to experience. But the earlier this can be communicated, the better. Early diagnosis saves lives. As a primary care provider, you are the first line of defense for your patients with cancer. They might come to you with suspicions, or they might have a list of vague symptoms with no indication that cancer could be the underlying cause. Their future health depends on how prepared you are for that moment. Be prepared to help your patients with multiple myeloma before they walk through your door. #Myeloma #MultipleMyeloma http://spr.ly/6041qY9gt
