Some called it a capitulation or a mea culpa, but I don't see it that way. Mark Zuckerberg's letter to Rep Jim Jordan's House Judiciary Committee was his attempt to reset some ground rules around how the White House can lean on social networks. He's wise to do so, no matter who ends up President. While it looks like the Meta founder made key concessions, giving Jordan's flimsy investigation its "ah ha!" moment, there were no new revelations. ↠ The company has already expressed regret over how it handled specific stories about President Biden's son, Hunter. ↠ It has also previously stated that it felt the White House's meddling over COVID-19 content stepped over the line, which it certainly did.
