#GenerationRestoration: Today, on World Environment Day, we unite to restore our planet! Land degradation could reduce global food productivity by 12%. While we can’t turn back time, we can create a more sustainable world for future generations. We can combat this through ecosystem restoration—from regenerative agriculture to reducing waste and water usage. Wondering what you can do at your scale? Download the practical We Are #GenerationRestoration: A Practical Guide: https://lnkd.in/duCHperf At Puratos, we’re committed to you and future generations. Our sustainability efforts focus on striving for carbon neutrality, responsible water usage, and waste reduction across our operations and value chains. We also promote responsible sourcing, aiming to create a legacy of positive impact. As proud members of the UN Global Compact, we align our efforts with global sustainability goals. Let’s work together for a more sustainable future! Want to learn more? Our Annual and Sustainability Report 2023 has been published! Last year; ➡ our total CO2e emissions decreased with approximately 10% compared to 2019 (base-year) ➡ we made further progress within our climate action program by improving our data collection process through collaboration with value chain partners for our scope 3 emissions and structured our initiatives to accelerate the reduction of our scope 1 and 2 emissions ➡ our vegan candy portfolio significantly increased to 37% from 23% last year ➡ overall, we maintained more than 90% recyclable packaging ➡ continued efforts to enable living income for cocoa farmers and empower women who are harvesting shea in West Africa We joined the Science Based Targets initiative in 2020 and have committed to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions within scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 46 per cent by 2030 from a 2019 base year. The report is available on our website www.cloetta.com and we would like to thank both PWC and Vero Kommunikation AB for the smooth collaboration! #annualreport #cloetta #sustainability

We are not reaching net zero fast enough – that is a fact. It was therefore good to discuss the race to net zero with Eri Beetz (Shehu), Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran and James Rockall at The Economist summit yesterday. What is needed to be able to move faster in my industry – the food & beverage industry? We need to reduce emissions from agriculture and the end-to-end food system. End-to-end, farm to fork: 30% of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are linked to food, with about 20% from agriculture alone. And we need to feed more people in the future as the global population continues to grow - in 2050, we will need to produce around 60% more food than we do today according to the United Nations. To move faster we need to focus on three things: 1.Technology and infrastructure which will deliver less carbon intense and ultimately renewable energy and food production – accessible where it’s needed and at an affordable price. 2. Create a more sustainable agriculture system – regenerative and sustainable for farmers. 3. Tackle the issue of food waste. #netzero #ScienceSolutionsSociety #TateandLyle

How can we reshape our food systems for a sustainable future? A new UN Environment Programme report, unveiled at COP28 and co-authored by a team including SEI's Cleo Verkuijl, Ploy Achakulwisut and Jonathan Green, offers a compelling look at novel meat and dairy alternatives. These innovations not only promise significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions but also present new avenues for public health benefits. Balancing environmental impact with nutritional implications, the report suggests a transformative approach to what we eat. Dive into the insights and explore the potential of novel alternatives in our detailed Q&A with the report's co-authors, featuring SEI York's Katie Noble. 💬 Q&A: https://buff.ly/3Ni5EvW 📄 Report: https://buff.ly/41flZHl 📣 Press release: https://buff.ly/489h9O2 #COP28 #FoodSystems #MeatAndDairy #SustainableEating #ClimateAction #NovelAlternatives #GHGs #PublicHealth #innovation

With UK food companies' CSRD reporting becoming mandatory, we are already seeing a tremendous shift in reaching sustainability targets in that region in comparison to food companies in the rest of the world. "The grass is greener when you water it." 🌱 The more food companies are pushed to dedicate time and awareness to their environmental impact, the more it will enforce acceleration of GHG emission reduction in the future. Want to know more about the state of sustainability reporting in the UK and globally? Sign up to our webinar on February 15 to learn about this 2024 trend and more: https://lnkd.in/dGw_4d4B

Are you familiar with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? The SDGs consist of 17 interconnected objectives aimed at addressing global challenges by 2030. Some SDGs have a direct and profound connection to building sustainable supply chains for agricultural machinery. For example… 🛤️SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure - Sustainable supply chains for agricultural machinery involve innovative technologies and green manufacturing practices, contributing to more sustainable industrial growth and infrastructure development. ♻️ SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production - Sustainable supply chains encourage responsible sourcing, reduced waste, and efficient resource use, which aligns with the objective of reducing the negative environmental impact of production and consumption. Learn more about how aligning agricultural machinery supply chains with the UN SDGs offers numerous advantages: https://lnkd.in/ee7CR4FP Let's work together to make a positive impact on our planet! 🌎 #SustainableLogistics #SupplyChain #Sustainability #Logistics #GreenBusiness #EnvironmentalImpact #GreenLogistics #SDGs #GlobalGoals

Globally, food systems are responsible for about 30% of the current human-caused greenhouse gas emissions driving climate change. Animal products—including animal emissions, feed, changes in land use and energy-intensive global supply chains—account for almost 60% of food-related emissions, for a total of 14.5–20% of global emissions. Reducing the harms of animal agriculture while feeding the planet can go a long way toward solving the climate crisis.

What we eat matters for the climate, for the environment, for human and animal health. Novel meat and dairy alternatives can significantly reduce the environmental footprint of the current global food system. Or as my colleague Cleo Verkuijl, one of the lead authors of the brand new report "What's cooking?" says: “The science is clear that consumption and production of conventional meat and dairy needs to come down globally, with richer countries taking the lead. Existing approaches have not delivered change at the scale and speed necessary. This first-of-a-kind UN report suggests that novel meat and dairy alternatives can play an important role in supporting a transition towards a more sustainable and healthier food system.” #COP28
