The Institute for Medicaid Innovation (IMI) has released a new, five-year plan to improve the trajectory of America’s maternal and infant health outcomes: A Blueprint for Improving Maternal and Infant Outcomes Under Medicaid. lnkd.in/eK3tsr37 This is the result of a 2023 national summit of #Medicaid and #MaternalChildHealth thought leaders and change agents, including AMCHP’s Andria Cornell, Associate Director of Women’s and Infant Health. Morningside Area Alliance Member News #ColumbiaUniversityMedia: Maternal mortality in the U.S. is on the rise and more than half of maternal deaths occur in the postpartum year. A study by researchers at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and the Columbia School of Social Work provides insights into the challenges that birthing people face in the year after birth—both medical and social—which could be drivers of postpartum morbidity and mortality. The Federal Government’s Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology (Health IT) launched the United States Core Data for Interoperability Plus Quality, Data Initiative (“USCDI+”) in the Fall of 2021, developing several domains to harmonize data elements into a common list for development and reporting of quality measures across agencies (such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS).
